Health Perception in Saudi Arabian Youth Affiliation: BRIEF LITERATURE REVIEW Health perceptions are the opinions that peoplehave regarding their dieting, sleeping, working out and the overall association of these concerns with to their medical conditions. Overweight and obesity are health concerns related to dieting and lack of exercise, terminal diseases and STIs such as HIV and Gonorrhea are health concerns related to unsafe sex among the youth. Additionally, lung and throat cancers are health issues related with smoking of nicotine (Gonzalez-Quintela,et al. 2010). However, Saudi Arabian youth from Jeddah City have health perceptions related to being overweight due to body size as opposed to Body Mass Index.

Researches by Pool (2001), Patel et al. (2007), Levy-Navarro (2008), Kopelman et al. (2009), and Jebb (2005) confirm that most youthful generations view themselves as overweight for having more than average body sizes.METHODOLOGYThe research topic at hand will be explored through the focus on primary research involving 100 students from Jeddah City high schools. Students will be selected using randomized sampling. Only students of 14 to 17 years will be considered for the final selection. Personal interviews will be used to collect data on socio-demographic variables, eating habits, foods consumed, body weight perceptions, management of weight, and weight management practices.

Students responding about their body weights will be provided with the following responses; extremely underweight, fairly underweight, right weight, fairly overweight, extremely overweight. Confidence level of 95%, proportion, and prevalence intervals are to be calculated (Albalkhail, Shwaky, & Ghabrah, 2002).RESEARCH QUESTIONWhat are the health perceptions of Saudi Arabian youth with regards to their body weights, eating habits, and exposure to weight related medical conditions? (Kolata, 2007).
