Shaping Behavior Role of the brain, nervous system, and sensory systems in shaping behavior The brain, nervous system and sensory system are part of the body that play an important role in shaping behavior of individuals as they interact with their environment from time to time. The brain has the capability to develop embyogically to form as the individual matures with time. It therefore implies that young people have less developed sensory organs as compared to that of adults. The brain is able to shape behavior due to its capability to capture new information during the learning process and it stores this information for future use. Human being are able to learn at any age and such information is stored in the brain that in turn influences their behavior as they interact with the environment. The brain is separated in different parts that are responsible for controlling physical control, emotions and motivation, which in turn affect the behavior of individuals. In addition, the brain is also responsible for controlling reasoning and impulses in accordance with the environment in which one is exposed to. The brain normally develops based on the direction in which it is exposed and such modifications have tremendous effects on neural growth that in turn affects the behavior of a person. This can be illustrated by exposure to elements like cocaine during prenatal development that have an influence preference to drugs during adult stages. These elements have the capability to alter the normal function of the brain that in turn influences the behavior of an individual. Sensory systems form part in shaping the behavior of a person and these systems develops as one grows to become an adult. It therefore implies that young people have less developed sensory organs as compared to that of adults. They are responsible for sensing various impulses and relaying the information to the brain, which in turn coordinates the response based on the impulse. The sensory organs closely with the brain to enable a person to control his physiological and psychological functioning. The brain is in charge for receiving senses in order to recognize whatever happens in its environment. The sensory systems are responsible for detecting changes in the environment that they use to analyze the environment that influence human behavior. Various senses receive countless signals and determine whether they are real. The presence of various hormones in the body has a dramatic effect on the ability of sensory receptor sensibility and the manner in which sensory inputs are perceived. The human body is mostly guided by the pleasure and pain in perceiving all aspects of life. There are several senses in the human body that allows for interactions with their surrounding environments. The stimulus is sensed and perceived that sends an action in response to the stimuli. It therefore implies that stimulus is always followed by a response through the integration of sensory inputs with motor systems in the brain system. The motor signals are always accurately converted into the extended muscle movements that in turns affects the behavior of a person. The ability to detect and interpret sensations properly is dependent on the environment in which an individual is situated. The behavior of a person can also be revoked by sensory systems in the body. A good example is evident when someone sees tears in another person. The tears seen by the eyes will normally evoke the feeling of concern since it represents abnormal situation. This is also very common in animals whereby, the smell of female tears decreases sexual arousal and testerone levels in males. Continuous use of drugs, disease, infection, injury or sensory deprivation can cause aberrations in the sensory perception that often come in the form of hallucinations which are generated by the mind rather than actual sensory stimuli. A disruption in the sensory motor output is also associated with movement disorders like Parkinson disease. Other movement disorders that are associated with sensory motor output are various traumas, dystonia, and tics. The repeated use of certain muscles such as in athletics and dancers enables the muscle tissues and the brain to interact. Such a movement can repeat itself severally, creating a long term muscle memory that enables such an act to be executed devoid of conscious exertions. This in turn reduces the necessity for thoughtfulness to the task, leading to improved efficiency of sensory motor, muscle, and memory systems (Pulcher, 2013). He further asserts that the brain acts as a dual processor that links up with other sensory organs in the body to interpret changes that it uses to influence the behavior of a person. Through this, the brain is able to perfectly handle our emotions, thoughts, feelings and our decision making as we interact with the environment.
