The research entails looking into a specified problem and using relevant literature and results obtained, bring out a solution. In this regard, research might include different parties and the success of the entire project is determined by the coordination of each and every party. Therefore, good leadership is essential to ensure a smooth undertaking of the research. The research on Alzheimer's disease was executed using rats as specimens, as Terrence believed argued, “We believe the rats will be an excellent, stringent pre-clinical model for testing experimental Alzheimer’s disease therapeutics” (Thomas para 2).

From the research, it emerged that a high level of beta-amyloid in the brain leads to the occurrences of the health disorder, Alzheimer's. The disease affects a substantive percentage of the American population, about five million, making it an important aspect of research, which would ensure that citizens live happy lives, free from diseases. The research on Alzheimer's disease was carried out by a team of experts headed by Professor Terrence Town. Each person acted at different capacity and the joined effort led to the success realized.

In concluding presenting the results, Professor Neil argued that presenting the results to interested researchers with results obtained would be of great help in the future. This is an aspect of good leadership as it recognizes that there might be limitations in the results obtained, and thus it would be beneficial to welcome other researchers. According to the fielder contingency model, leadership is static and can be evaluated using a scale referred to as Least-Preferred Co-Worker (Daft, 2008).

In this regard, one evaluates his relationship with co-workers with the score awarded determining whether one is a relationship-oriented leader or task-oriented leader. Relationship-oriented leadership is depicted when the average score is high while on the contrary, task-oriented leadership is depicted when the score is low. In regard to the research on Alzheimer's disease, the interaction between parties involved is depicted to be strong by each party being in a capacity to air his/her interpretation of the results as well as how and who would benefit from the results.

The second approach of the Fielder contingency model is situational favorableness, which is determined by leader-member relations, task structure, and leader’s position power (Gill, 2006). In regard to the research on Alzheimer's disease, the relationship between various parties seems appealing, with leaders not being observed to be commanding.
