In another dimension, political factors can also play a big part in reducing discrimination against mentally ill persons (Fink, & Tasman, 1992). For example, if governments enact legislations that safeguard the welfare of mentally ill persons, then society would have a positive focus on such persons. Such legislation could focus on issues like special care for persons with mental illnesses, and laws stipulating the effects of discrimination against persons with mental illness.
