Mental illness can affect a person of any class at any age regardless of religious affiliation, earning, or even superiority. In contrast to most societies, mental illness should not be treated as a curse (Thompson 1). It can also not be, as a result, of how individuals interact with the environment in regard to social and economical factors.
There are a number of body feelings that can be classified as mental disorders. Some of these include; trauma, brought by stress, depression, panic disorder, and borderline personality disorder amongst others. These illnesses can cause much trauma to the victims. One major aspect that needs to be noted is that most mental illnesses can be cured. When a person has been diagnosed with mental illness, one can experience relief as he makes the arrangements to organize a medical plan.
Treatment of mental illness is not purely based on medication alone. There are some additional concepts such as the incorporation of psychological treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and indulgence through peer groups and communal services, which can also take the role of mental illness recuperation (Thompson 1). A person who suffers from mental illness is at risk of being overindulgent in crime and substance abuse, and this, in most cases, complicates treatments. To some extent, people who have been diagnosed with such diseases may attempt to commit suicide.
Symbolic interactions in mental illness
Because of the number of changes that may affect the legal rights of patients. The care given to most of the persons suffering from mental illness has so far been moved from hospital-based to community center system. This, however, still comes with a number of issues. For instance, neglect the meaning of illness. Most people with mental illness may face abandonment by the community (Herman 323). People should be able to think about mental illness like any other health condition and bring them to the open.
One of the chief troubles of people suffering from mental illness is stigma and confrontation of the negative attitude from the rest of the community (Mooney, Knox, and Schacht 36). Positive attitudes and care toward those who suffer from mental illness will lead to a quick recovery. In addition, isolation is also a factor to consider. Mental illness should be brought in open and talked about in the diverse community as this will bring sensitization hence quick recovery. The community should be sensitized on the issue of mental illness and the consequences of ills attached to stigmatization.
The act of dangerousness is a false perception and a stereotype that roams about persons of such illness. Persons with mental illness could be less dangerous and, therefore, should be treated with equity, and this, in turn, maximizes recovery (Mooney, Knox, and Schacht 36). It is arguably true that some mental illnesses like bipolar mood disorder can run through families, but they should not be treated as genetically or hereditary because they can be treated and well handled to recovery.
