Managing Stress Full Stressors abound around people and they are perhaps inescapable. Sometimes, even the things or people someone enjoys become the source of stress. For instance, friends are wonderful and helpful because as people, we are social beings and therefore need other people to communicate or relate with. However, they can also become the sources of problems when they are not given the right time and place. Personally, I encounter stressing circumstances when my schedules are tumultuous because of other activities I often entertain because of my friends.

Since I enjoy my friends’ companionship so much, I often find it difficult to refuse their invitations. Therefore, I learned to say no to them even if I really want to go out with them. In addition, I also need to stick to my schedules and avoid procrastination so that I can finish necessary requirements on time. Whenever I am able to do so, I train myself to do other things which are scheduled on other days. This enables me to clean up other activities in order for me to be able to accommodate the invitations of my friends.

As a result, I now avoid unnecessary stress. When the demands in school at home and my environment become great enough for me to control and manage, I always take time to think and plan. Moreover, I learned how relaxation can really help in countering stress so that even if I work hard to finish whatever I am able to accomplish, I also reward myself with little treats such as watching a movie or dining out with friends.
