I think I’m an overall happy person because I think happiness depends upon our approach to the mind. It depends upon us how we perceive happiness.

We can even stay happy in sad times simply by our positive views of life. It’s not about being happy or unhappy one can find sadness in happiness simply by assuming that something is meant to be good it. Or even in happy times, one cannot be satisfied or have the desire to get something better and can end up being sadder. For example, a person ends up getting a car that he always wanted but after getting it he sees the flaws and bottom outs and then starts desiring more. Therefore happiness means different to different people.

Everybody loses his/her hopes in difficult and rigid times. But the ability to stay positive when things are out of hand or when they touch the heart should be the key to success and prosperity. We should make the most out of our lives. I remember once I wanted to get a new car but my family was not in a position to afford it. I was very frustrated and unhappy with my father and thought why does this always happen to me? It made me bitterer when I saw my friends having new cars. I wanted it badly and so I started to get upset with my family. But then I met some friends at my college who used to walk from so far to school. Even in rain or snow, day or night.

When I asked they told me that they cannot afford to have a car and were more satisfied and happy with life than me. I had everything but there was no satisfaction. That day I realized that I’m better than many in this world. Even to those who have nothing to eat, who have nothing to wear and even to shed their heads. That made me overcome my bleakness and sorrow. When you see those who are less than you, it realizes what we have and the blessings of God on us and makes you feel contended. I have changed my perceptions, even in very little things I think that there is something better for me. There’s something good hidden right there that I cannot see.

There was a time when my mother fell sick. She could not walk or sit. I was shattered to see her condition but I didn’t lose hope. Family is the utmost important part of your life; it is more than money, more than any wealth. When they are happy you are happy, their sadness makes you sad. Nothing can make you watch their sadness but I believed that she will get better and nothing can happen bad to her. My trust in her made her trust herself. My family controlled our emotions and after some time she started to get better from her physiotherapies. At that moment I had to overcome my emotions and they proved to be beneficial for all of my family.

I suggest that happiness lies in every drop of sadness. Through positivity in life, every sorrow can be overcome. Nothing in life is greater than our strength to overcome sadness. In sad times we should take time to think about how to act. Believe that nothing can change the situation except our attitude. Think positive and don’t abuse alcohol, especially when you are down, as it will make you even sadder. Try to ease up on you. I do cry because it makes you feel better but don’t exhaust yourself. We should hope for the best and have faith that whatever happens, happens for good. Secondly, we should be happy with what we have. If the desire for more is erased from our lives and we start to get satisfied with little things then it’s not difficult to stay happy. Read More
