Problem Solving and Creativity Task: Problem Solving and Creativity Question one: A real-life example where decision-making is time-constrained A medical decision that focuses on a patient who is an emergency room and his state is worsening; however, an ideal decision on the treatment approaches can only be realized after conducting costly and time-consuming investigations. Consequently, a heuristic approach is the most appropriate when finding a solution to this problem. The most accurate solution to the patient’s condition is attainable though algorithmic method; however, time does not allow the option of an algorithmic approach.

Consequently, the physician must make an immediate decision on which treatment to give the patient meaning that a heuristic approach would be instrumental. Yes, Zeigarnik effect can make an individual develop proficient approaches to learning because it increases one’s chances of remembering learned concepts. According to Lucas (2005) learners who interrupt, their procedures by doing other unrelated activities have high chances of remembering the subject better than ones who finish their sessions without taking a rest.

Question two: Cognitive and affective aspects of creativityCognitive aspects are likely to have a greater effect on affective processes. Cognitive aspects entail the learned knowledge while affective involve facets such as inquisitiveness, risk taking, humor, and liberty. The effect of cognitive aspects on affective elements can be understood by considering that the attained knowledge may promote or determine one’s affective state. Attainment of knowledge about something may make an individual seek to know more about it; thus, promoting his curiosity (McCutcheon et al., 2003).Similarly, developing knowledge about a scenario may make a person gather confidence when taking a risk.

For instance, a researcher who has conducted trials that present positive results may develop confidence and try risky procedures (Goldstein, 2007). Importantly, an informed person may break irrational believes or assumptions and seek to be independent. In all these scenarios, the cognitive aspect would have influenced affective aspects.
