In the study, the variable that is dependent is the lives of the college students while the independent variable is binge drinking. Through the measurement of the concepts, the influence of the dependent variable on the independent must be established. These concepts get explained as below;
Reliability gets achieved when the steps taken in the research can be verified by examining raw data and results of the data reduction process. (Campbell, 1996). The testing of reliability will also be promoted by establishing the trustworthiness of the respondents during the interviews and the link between the observation results and the subject matter of the research being conducted.
Validity would be measured by the researcher’s perception of the responses given during the interviews and notes taken during observation. This measurement will establish if the responses received and the notes taken (data collected) gets fit to bring tangible results of the study.
Data collected from the personal interviews and the notes taken during observations would be analyzed, summarized and interpreted accordingly with the aid of descriptive statistical techniques such as tables, bar graphs and easy percentages.
The bar graphs would be used to the relationship between the lives of college students who embrace binge drinking and those are nondrinkers. The relationship between the academic performances of the two groups will also be shown using the bar graphs. The same results will also be presented in clear percentages.
Regression analysis and analysis of the variance will also be conducted in order to explore more of the relationship between the independent and the dependent variables. The dependent variable (the live of the college students) is what would be regressed, and the regressing variable will be the independent variable (binge

The research has shown that there is survival benefit of light drinking of 4 to 8 ounces of wine, potential of reducing risks of heart diseases, stroke and dementia, there is no amount of alcohol that has shown to be generally safe for expectant mothers. Diagnosis involves obtaining a comprehensive medical, mental health and family history on alcohol use (Alcohol abuse and alcoholism).
Much research is done on this issue in order to explain the psychological effects produced on people when alcohol is abused beyond limits. The emotional, psychological, and behavioral turmoil an abuser goes through after falling prey to the abuse is attempted to be identified and discussed in this paper with the help of research.
Individuals with a history of alcoholism or alcohol abuse in the family are also more prone to encounter alcohol-related difficulties (Freeman, 2001). It has been known already that family members of an alcohol abuser are more prone to experience problems from alcohol abuse.
Incidentally, alcohol intake among teenagers starts as early as twelve years, though the legal age to take alcohol is 18 years. Alcohol intake among teenagers in Australia has been in worrying trends, with both females and male students being involved in risky alcohol intake or high cases of intoxication.
Couples are more likely to be inclined to alcohol abuse at the same levels as individuals may tend to select partners who exhibit the same characteristics and behavior patterns. The young people in the society have become rampant alcohol abusers. The high rate of alcohol use amongst young individuals is attributed to increased peer influence, lack of parental control, and high accessibility and availability of alcohol.
The results of heavy drinking of alcoholic substances have proved negative- alcohol has clearly impacted negatively on the health of the people who take excessive amounts. Deaths have been reported as consequences of excessive alcohol intake; some youths have had to quit going to school due to their addiction to alcohol and married couples living with the abuse of alcohol in their marriage will often separate or fail to perform within their marriages.
In the eating disorder literature, there are several available studies examining the prevalence of self-harm behaviour among those with eating disorders. In contrast, in the literature on self-injury, there are several studies that describe the prevalence of comorbid eating disorders as well as provide more speculation on the association between eating disorders and self-harm or self-injury (Favaro & Santonastaso, 2002).
High level of alcohol abuse in the police is mainly a maladaptive coping strategy to deal with the high levels of stress associated with the occupation. Various research studies have indicated that drinking alcohol appears to be the most ideal method of coping, in an organization that provides limited psychological support to its employees.
Undeniably, drugs and alcohol use in teenagers is major problem among American youths today. Many students continue to loose their lives, discontinue their education, and become social misfits in our society.The government continue to spend millions of dollars to offer health services to victims of alcohol and drug abuse
