Faculty of Language Language has evolved for a considerable number of years and continues to evolve. According to Hauser et al (2002), faculty of language broad (FLB) comprises of intrinsic language computation structure, sensory motor, as well as the intentional concept. Faculty of language broad is not a standalone but also consists of other related functions such as circulation, respiration, digestion, and most importantly, memory. On the other hand, faculty of language narrow (FLN) only comprises of recursion, which is only synonymous with human component of faculty of language.

Hauser defines faculty of language broad as including “all the mental processes that are both necessary and sufficient to support language” (Hauser, n.d). On the other hand, faculty of language narrow “includes only those mental processes that are unique to language and unique to humans” (Hauser, n.d). Faculty of language broad is believed to have evolved through adaptive process. It is believed to have occurred through the evolutionary trend that occurred on earth. It is through evolutionary trend that faculty of language broad is believed to have affected all the living things that existed during that period and it is the same reason why human and all other species have these capabilities as the adapted in a similar manner.

It is therefore, said not to be unique to language, and occurs in diverse population (Hauser et al, 2002).Conversely, faculty of language narrow is thought to have evolved in non-adaptive means. It is the only distinct human component of the faculty of language and therefore only human has capabilities (Hinz, & Idsardi, 2011). It is thought to have evolved for reason other than just communication. It may have occurred because of interactions, a level of interaction only seen in human. It cannot be in any way accounted in terms of evolution, as it is not an evolutionary process.
