The Psychometric Approach The Avecia Biotechnology Company of UK is indispensably using the Big Five Personality Psychometric approach in handling the identification of the people whom they would trust company positions to. Through this approach, five major aspects of personality traits are measured so as to ensure that the said person is just right for the available position. The five traits or personality characteristics mentioned include Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism or OCEAN. Obviously, through this approach, the administration ensures that the people to be hired would be able to handle their tasks conscientiously through being emotionally, physically and mentally wise during work hours. Hence, to be able to assure that each person would be able to do his own responsibilities responsively, the BIG FIVE PERSONALITY measurement gives a clear glimpse of the personality of the applicants that would fit the said requirements. This then primarily involves the capability of the administrational tem to ensure the emotional intelligence of the people that they hire. Business organizations today are trying to find ways by which they are able to enhance the capabilities of their employees in garnering the most important factor of their organizational existence, that is to say, organizational progress. To be able to attain such progress, organizational leaders try to encourage their people by increasing the benefits they receive from their company, creating more employee-friendly rules and so on and so forth. It was just lately that business experts found out the emotional intelligence has so much to do with the individual progress that the company needs to attain organizational development. It is indeed clear to anyone leading an organization that individuals making up the organization have a great contribution to how far the organization is going to progress with regards to its existence in the global market. Certainly, this is a key that identifies individual employees as one of the important factors of 'blood vessels" of any business organization aside form the company consumers themselves. This is the reason why business organization leaders intent to create several ways by which they are going to be able to instill individual development among their employees. There are also numerous ways by which they try to encourage their employees to reach their goals as individual persons and as a part of the organization as well. However, through rigid research and study procedures, business experts found out the emotional intelligence plays an important role in producing fine and highly motivated employees. What is emotional intelligence and how does it affect a person's ability to work How far has emotional intelligence proved to be effective with regards to organizational progress in the past years of the business industry Emotional Intelligence is known as the ability, the capability of an individual to asses himself towards a certain situation. Hence, through the utilization of the skills provided to an individual by Emotional Intelligence (EI), he is able to understand how he is supposed to react on the situations that he meets in his daily activities. According to the current researches performed by psychologists, it has been noted that emotional intelligence is given high developmental processes from an individual's birth. Just in case the enhancement of the said attitude towards the situation has not been addressed in the homes of the young children, Emotional Intelligence could be attained from educational institutions. Educators believe that inculcating such attitude in their students help them produce individuals who are able to handle the life challenges that they have to face as they grow older. The three major characteristics that the students further develop are as follows: Reduced violence and aggression Higher passion for achievement Improved ability of functioning in the workplace (Source: Internet, http://www.edutopia.org/php/keyword.phpid=020.). Indeed, through the inculcation of the said studies within the student's ability of dealing with life, they are further nourished to becoming better individuals in the future as they grow. Hence, as they apply the things they have learned from their educational institutions and integrating it with the Emotional Intelligence which they have developed through the life experiences that they have been able to meet along the journey of their lifetime, they gain better achievements not only for themselves but for the whole society as well. Psychologists found out, through the years of their study of human behavior, that Emotional Intelligence has four major models that are used as basis of the application of EI in the workplace: Accurately perceiving emotions in oneself and others The ability of an individual to understand the emotion of a colleague helps him further enhance the camaraderie and relationship that he has towards the people in his workplace thus creating a more workable environment not only for himself but for the others as well. Use of emotions to facilitate thinking It is very important for an employee to show empathy towards his colleagues to be able to develop fine relationship with them. A person who has EI has the capability of using this emotional skill to set a pattern by which he is able to live with the individual characteristics of each person in his working environment using his emotional capability of feeling accordingly to what they are feeling in the same way regarding a certain situation. Understand Emotional Meanings At many points of consideration, working conflicts and other working issues involving employee-management interaction, emotional meanings are rampant. Understanding them would help every member of an organization give way to the fact that everybody is entitled to feeling the way they do due to the idea that everybody perceives different situations ion different ways. Managing Emotions One's ability in managing his ability would naturally help him understand his capability of stretching his patience towards different situations that involve him in his workplace or in his social connections. Being able to manage his emotions would naturally help him develop better relationships with people in his job. Certainly, with the use of the BIG FIVE PERSONALITY PSYCHOMETRY measurements and assessments, a person shall then be identified to have or not to have the emotional intelligence needed to handle challenges that the workplace is ready to offer him or her. Hence, effectively using the said approach of traits measurement for the betterment of the hiring process shall ensure the administration of having the right people for the right position as believed by the HR department of Avecia Biotechnological Company. Conclusion Yes, as noted herein, with the right kind of psychometric measurement used to asses the employees trying to apply to an organization, there is a high capacity that the company would be able to get the right people for the right position. People who are likely emotionally intelligent and capable enough to handle the tough asks that they need to face while working for the organization. Being emotionally intelligent is indeed an asset for an employee; thus, having a pool of employees who are bale to use their emotional intelligence at work is also an advantage for any business organization. This is the reason why in this study, the importance of such intelligence is pointed out to be an essential part of any organizational success. Since the proofs of the said claim has been clearly laid down in this study, it could then be noted that there is nothing that a company would loose if they are going to invest a minimal amount of their business capital in producing programs that are highly motivational for the employees. These programs would naturally enhance the emotional intelligence of each employee force that makes up the organization. As a result, it could be expected, that companies investing in such type of employee motivation would receive fine returns as their employees would become more competent of working with their colleagues and their regular clients as well. Having such type of employees would ensure the company of having clients who would keep on coming back not only for the products that they serve but because of the services that they provide in a highly competitive way.
