The Loci Technique This is a technique of improving memory through the designation of objects to be remembered to specific places that a person is familiar with. An example that illustrates the technique is as follows. Mr. S is a Russian with an extraordinary memory.

He explained how he placed things in different places to improve his memory. Mr. S. mentally put each object in a specific place that he was familiar to, for example, he would create a scene with various objects like a violin, a dog, a tree and so on.
