As a matter of fact, people have to develop through each stage to a healthy living with the help of others. For example, during the infancy stage, there is a need to have a parent. In most cases, there is a need for a motherly figure. Though some people do not have their biological mothers, they still have to get a mother who will take care of their needs. The same applies to the other sequential stages in their lives. Each person has to face obstacles, new challenges and other confrontations in life. A person that masters how to treat the different situations in life lives a better and healthy life (Berns, 2009). However, some people find it hard to cope with some situations. This is due to lack of control and other helping factors in these stages. As such, they do not live to adulthood. Therefore, Erikson states that a person should have all the help and preparation to tackle all these challenges and obstacles to have a better life (Crain, 2011). Without such, they are not likely to live a fulfilling life. Marie is an adult passing through the last stage of psychological development. This is a crucial stage in a person’s life that requires people who are always there to offer help when it is needed. To begin with, Marie needs a person that is caring and will offer any help when it is needed. According to Erikson, this is a stage that needs a kind person that will offer unparalleled help to such an adult (Crain, 2011). The person should always be there in physical presence. Apparently, aging people need physical company at all times. They are in a stage in life where most of their peers are departed (Shaffer, 2009). To divert the attention of such, there is a need for company that will help in psychological health. With the presence of caring and kind people, Marie is likely to have better health. For example, she will start to interact with such an individual in all aspects. This will enhance her living as she will be prepared to tackle any obstacles in life. For example, she needs a kind person that will help her in her house chores. Without such an individual, she is not likely to do all the house chores by herself. In such a situation, she will lose direction and commitment to living a better life. Certainly, company is a steadfast aspect that Marie needs. Therefore, with constant company, she will be able to achieve all the needs in her old age. Secondly, Marie needs a family member that is not in her age bracket. Toni is one of the family members that are believed to be caring, supportive and resourceful. This is a family member that understands what she is going through. Therefore, with such a person, she is likely to reflect on the issues that are affecting her as an adult. This is a family member understands the family background and what she has been going through (Berns, 2009). For example, the family member knows the family lineage and will know how to deal with the situation. Apparently, Marie is in the stage where she will miss her family members who are not present. Therefore, with a family member that is ever present, she will feel that the family still cares for her. As such she is not likely to face many obstacles in life. Thirdly, Marie needs a student that has been in psychological classes and knows how to deal with old people. For example, Marie has undergone a knee replacement and needs constant medical attention. She however refuses to take the medication as prescribed. This is a critical situation that needs urgent reaction from the people that take care of the aging Marie. A student will be best prepared to deal with such a situation as compared to any other person. According to research, it is considered that aging people need attention just like infants. In many cases, old people behave more or less the same like infants. Infants need attention from the people that are around them. Therefore, they will have a better life when the people that are available show ultimate and steadfast care and attention. In this case, a student that has gone through the psychosocial developmental theory as stated by Erikson will be prepared to deal with the situation in the best standards (Berns, 2009). This is the same situation in Marie’s case, which needs a student that will offer professional help in ensuring she takes the medication as prescribed. Consequently, Marie will need all the three aforementioned people to make her life better. With all the three people dealing with Marie’s situation, it is most likely that she will live a happy and better life that is full of strength. Therefore, the three aforementioned should slot different times to keep the person in question entertained and determined to make it in life. With such preparation, it is possible that Marie will live a better, happy and longer life that is appreciating. However, when these three are not present, she might not live longer due to the impeding challenges that she will face. When Marie is in the presence of the three stated individuals, there are several obstacles that the three individuals will have to face at one time or another. These challenges are prone to happen since this is a psychological stage in life that has many situations that are identical in all aging people. To begin with, old people are reflective in life (Crain, 2011). They will have to focus more on their life and what they have been gong through in life. To begin with, the people will have to focus on their achievements. These are some of the best attributes that will make a person proud and this will be occasionally stated. However, the issue is that they are no longer feeling the need for such achievements in life (Berns, 2009). Though they have tirelessly worked for such achievements in life, they are no longer making sense. Another reason for a crisis that could arise from this situation is that some old people feel that they have been shortchanged. For example, Marie had struggled in life and she had several businesses. However, her children sold the properties while she was still alive. This is situation that shows Marie is no longer useful as there is no investment in her name. This could be a traumatizing situation especially to the aging person. Since the three individuals that are obligated to take care of the aging are ever present, they will have to deal with such a situation (Allen and Marotz, 2003). Therefore, they will have to convince her that this was the best approach and solution to the situation. If this is not done, the situation will keep recurring as she will not be contented with the reasons behind the decision to sell her hard earned businesses. The second crisis is that the aging people will focus on their downfalls in life. These are some of the situations that sound an awry ordeal. A perfect situation in this context is that Marie lost her husband after cancer attack (Shaffer, 2009). She had married a husband who was her best friend and they have been living together for 47 years. This is one of the worst situations, especially when it is told by an aging person. These are people that are respected in the community and have to maintain their respect. However, at times, the aging people break into tears citing their downfalls. This is a crisis as the people caring for the old people will be emotionally touched (Crain, 2011). This could affect the situation as the treatment will not be the same. Lastly, a crisis could occur when there is conflict of interests. Some old people are demanding and they will dictate on the services they need and at a stated time. This could affect the situation as some people have principles on some issues. For example, there is a stated diet for aging people. This is a directive that helps them maintain a stable health. However, some aging people are choosy in most situations. This affects the whole situations as some of the principled people taking care of the aging people could give up. Nutritionists will have to slot more time to work on the aging people as they have issues with the stated diets. There are several challenges and areas of strength that can be derived in the situation of wellness for the aging people (Crain, 2011). First, there is the issue of her grandchildren stressing the aging Marie. This is challenge that should be approached with utter professionalism. It is known that children love to mingle with their grandparents. In this situation, Marie is the only surviving grandparent. Therefore, the children would like to mingle and associate with the aging person to learn history and other important aspects in life. Though they stress and make the aging Marie tired, the children still need her presence (Shaffer, 2009). Therefore, there will be professional approach to this situation where the children will only be visiting Marie under supervision of other caring adults. This will avert a situation where Marie is stressed and tired. The other challenge in this situation is that Marie has multiple health complications, which includes a knee replacement. This will affect her wellness as she feels pain after replacement of the knee. In addition to this, there is a challenge where she does not adhere to the prescription of drugs as given at the health care center. On the other hand, there are several areas of strengths. First, Marie has children of her own who are caring. The caring children offer the best to their aging mother as she is a strong bonding factor in the family (Shaffer, 2009). This will help her in achieving stable health. Secondly, there are several members that are concerned with her wellness. This is by moving her to a better place that will enhance her wellness and resilience. Lastly, the community and cultural groups are in support of aging people. Therefore, Marie will receive savored treatment. Culture has influence on the people that take care of the aging people in the society. To begin with, culture states that children should take care of their parents in old age. This states the reason why Marie’s children are in full support of her wellness and resilience. Secondly, the community has a role to play in teaching people to be kind to the old and aging people in the society. Many people in today’s world show resilience and humility to aging people as they are considered strong pillars of the society (Berns, 2009). Lastly, the culture instilled in students ensures they are supporting the old people in the society. This has helped Marie achieve better health. In conclusion, there are various aspects that will affect Marie’s life and health. There is a need to limit of the weaknesses and negativity to make a better health.
