School appropriate discussion/summary of abuse suffered As a young man, DeSalvo was exposed a to great amount of sexual misconduct as his father forced him to watch him having intercourse with the prostitutes. This, probably, traumatised his mind and led him to have such a violent perception towards sexual behaviour. Furthermore, he was beaten up by his father, thus physically and mentally abused and even sold as a slave, which must have cost him a great deal of distress and upset. 23. School appropriate discussion/summary of method of operation for the murders Strangling and committing sexual assault on women was the main method of operation used by DeSalvo to commit his crimes.
He had absolutely no respect for women and his conscience did not allow him to understand their emotions, thus causing him to portray such behaviour. He only physically abused two-three women and strangled and assaulted only women who he knew from before. This is because no sign of imposition or force was shown in their homes, of him breaking and entering. He would sexually assault them and the women were mostly found dead with their undergarments off, in awkward sexual positions. Part Two: Albert DeSalvo is known to be one of the most deviant personalities when it comes to understanding criminals, especially in the geographical vicinity of Boston.
Since a young age, he had been exposed to sexual abuse, as well as physical assault, by his father who was a violent alcoholic and forced his children to watch him indulging in sexual intercourse with prostitutes and beating up his wife. He also sold his son Albert and his two sisters as slaves to a farm for a period of nine months after which they escaped. Most criminals become the way they are because of the childhood trauma that they are exposed to, and Albert’s childhood contributed a great deal to his becoming a sexual assaulter of women who strangled them and had no respect for them whatsoever.
This is the primary reason as to which his personality was not conducive to live in a proper social environment and his reason for committing the crimes that he did. Living in a poor area, Albert sold himself to a homosexual community and had his first sexual encounter at the mere age of ten.
