? WORK PLACE ETHICAL DILEMMA of Workplace Ethical Dilemma In every working institution or site, there are set rules and regulations that are supposed to guide employees in the line of their duty. Some of these policies are often bend by employers or senior staff member just to achieve what they want such as sexual activities by the junior members of staff hence causing harassment. Harassments have become an order of the day in almost all working institutions. This as one of the ethical dilemmas in a working place, tend to affect some of the junior employees as they are forced in certain deals that might jeopardize their lives or make them feel desperate in life. I have also passed through harassment in my working institution, as my manager wanted me to get involved in some kind of sexual activity after which my monthly salary would be increased by a given amount. For me, seemed like some kind of dilemma for a positive reply could boost my lifestyle but a negative one could also lead to my resignation. Actually, very many things crossed my mind for it is believed that failure to make a decision is a decision made. This happened to be a very difficult decision I was required to make in life because losing my job was going to ruin my life completely and on the other hand, getting involved in such activity could be of a great risk due some of the sexually transmitted diseases that have been declared a matter of public concern. After thinking over this matter for a couple of hours, I refused to comply by the request baring in mind that my life was only meant for me to lead and direct and not based on someone else’s wish or desire. Though I was not expelled from the working staff, I went through a lot of psychological trauma due to the kind of treatment that I was subjected to on a daily basis. This trauma also lowered my level of performance in relation to the duties assigned to me. My fellow workmates were also left in some kind of wonder, as they did not understand the reason as to why I was treated strangely. This went on for many years without any action taken by my fellow work mates, as they were also afraid of losing their jobs. Though I went through many tribulations, I did not give up on my decision as this could not only raise my monthly earnings but lower my dignity. Sexual harassment tends to happen through various avenues that no one can really understand. This usually chip in where an employee wants some vital help prom his or her employer. This then causes conflict and poor personal relationship between this particular employee and the employer as the employer is not willing to give or offer help free of charge without some kind of dubious return or appreciation. This harassment seemed to have gone against some of my values as it was aimed at forcing me to do the wrong in order to get good. However, many employees have always been harassed but because they do not have enough power in their work place, they tend to comply to such request just to be in a good position or to achieve something in life. Some of fellow workmate who had complied to search requests when asked to, were promoted to big position within the institutions though is against some of the guiding principles of well being. The critical parts of the dilemma in this case was that I have could climb to another level in terms of job classification and earning that could in turn change my living standard or lifestyle. I could also have earned freedom hence evading any issue of harassment from any member of the working staff. All these were greater opportunities that could have come my way but it is only that they happen to have wrong criteria that were against some of my moral values and guiding principles. In large organizations, the managing staff is prone to this kind of act and is one of the factors that greatly pull down the working performance of the company or institutions as others would not be working to perfection just because they have some sort of relationship with the managing staff. This in turn affects other employees by giving them a heavy workload. This act cannot also allow for performance evaluation of an institution as in a way that bends some of its managing rules and policies. This dubious act by employers or senior staff of a particular organization is therefore declared immoral and should be reported immediately to the legal authorities just as I did. Reporting my problem to the legal authorities helped me a lot as I was in some kind of dilemma that could continue making my life miserable(Blanchard, 2000). I know that many employs could fear reporting such matters just because they are not ready of losing their jobs. It is also out of this experience that I came to find out that reporting such matter to the authority is an ideal decision one can make to save him or herself from lots of frustrations that can come their way. In Today’s world, such acts are highly punishable by the courts of law. For us to stay away from these experiences we must follow the rules of our work place and ensure that we are not harassed by anybody without reflecting on the general laws that govern us our working conditions. There are certain rectifications that out to be made to provide good working conditions that favor all irrespective of the working class or position. Though there are very many dilemmas that are connected to work, we have to learn ways on how to go about them without inconveniencing other fellow workmates. Today very many institutions have been established to help in protecting employee’s rights and wishes. Employers should also learn to practice good moral values towards their work to evade such ethical problems as this not only affect the employees that them included. This affects them by ruining their profession or job for life as they will suffer high charges and long term imprisonment. Workers most of the time tends not to know how to react if they see one of their fellow workers irritating another worker, either sexually mentally or physically. Workers may be bothered about their posts if they try to report their superior or boss for harassment. They may worry that they'll be tagged a troublemaker if they report a fellow worker who exhibit unsuitable manners toward other workers. The preeminent way to resolve this ethical dilemma is with the workers who build on the company's employee’s handbook. It is their duty to take account of specific language that indicates that employees are not to be punished for reporting the distressing manners or wrong actions of their junior workers. Dealing with ethical dilemmas, therefore, need individuality and conciliation skills as well as the new appliance of employable skills--honesty, aptitude to work considerately, respect for others, conceit in one's work, willingness to find out, reliability, accountability for one's proceedings, honesty, and trustworthiness (Byrne, 2001). For years, managers have wanted workers with these expertise and school prospectus have strained their magnitude for triumphant employment. Today, businesses are training their staff in critical philosophy and conflict decree skills essential for ethical decision-making. Schools are also focus on increasing students' vital thoughts skills, but to date little has been in print about the appliance of those skills in determining latent ethical dilemmas specific to given jobs/profession. With these knowledge, the upcoming leaders who will at one time happen to be employers, would have good moral values and management principles It can generally be concluded that ethical dilemma is mostly caused by the employer’s activity in the work place. When employees carry out good moral values that adhere to set policies for well being, then ethical dilemma in relation to work place can become history, as people will maintain a good relationship and concern for some of the firm or jobsites progress in terms of performance. Employers should also come up with the policies that tend to govern the co-workers from being subjected to the hash rule or harassment from their fellows. When all these are taken into account and proper implementations made, both on the side of the employees and employers, ethical dilemma that are associated with the work place can be controlled to some level or extent. Not to forget is the building of a special committee in any work place or organizations that deals with the issue of sexual harassment as if left to spread, it can lead to a very big catastrophe. Very many sexual infections can be spread because of sexual harassment. It may also lead to marital conflicts that can event lead to divorce which an immoral thing to most of the communities. Generally, ethical dilemma not matter what kind of dilemma should be fought accordingly for a declaration of a dilemma cannot have a rest at the expense of one or two personalities. All the members in this in a condition must be concerned for legal as well as ethical explanations. Medical verdicts often engage a multidisciplinary group that include some or all of the following: patient, significant others, nurses, social workers, dietitians, psychologists, family, physical, clergy, therapists among others. In this way, the knowledge, opinions, and expertise of all "stakeholders" in the decisions are considered. The same principle can be useful in business, with verdicts based on the articulated viewpoints of all stakeholders in a given circumstance even circuitous stakeholders. Prospective clients should also be renowned as stakeholders because their preference to do business with an organization may be based on the firm's status for ethical performance.  References Blanchard, K.
