A balance was maintained when selecting the two sexes. 3. Sample procedure A sample is defined as the section of the whole population. It is difficult to study the whole population and this is the main reason why a representative sample is imperative. The characteristics of a sample are assumed to represent those of the population. The main sampling techniques that were used included the simple random sampling, snow ball sampling and convenient sampling. The former was used to select students without any biasness.

The main reason why this method was chosen is to provide every individual equal chance of participation. In doing so, internal validity is increased and consequently the credibility of the research finding. Snow ball on the other hand is where a current respondent leads the researcher to another similar subject. This happens especially when the researcher finds him/herself in a new environment. This method is advantageous in the sense that only the people required by the researcher are interviewed.

Finally, this research employed the convenient sampling technique where students were just interview from their convenient places. Sample size The institution is estimated to have over twenty thousand students. However, it would be difficult to carry out this study on the whole population since it might take long time and more resources. For the purpose of this study therefore, only 250 students were selected for interviewing and filling in of questionnaires. It is said that the smaller the sample the more reliable the findings, and this is the main reason that prompted me to have this number. 4. Research procedures a.

Description of the research study The research study would be aimed at trying to highlight the impacts of online purchasing behavior exhibited by consumers. Are the companies able to achieve their short term or long term goals through implementation of online purchasing to consumers?

These are some of the questions that would be used in conducting the research. b. Research design A research design can be defined as a systematic structure that puts together all the scientific aspects of research to come up with the expected results. The reason for utilizing these methodologies is that they are the most effective and efficient methods when dealing with human subjects in the research study. b.
