This program analyses carefully the way a group interacts within themselves (Drahota, A., Dewey, A., 2008.
In an individual, there is that one person who is chosen by everyone as his/her friend. This is because he/she may have certain likable attributes thus making him/her be a star. Everybody wants to associate with him/her hence, making the person a hub of attention and attraction. At the same time there are those called isolates, these are those who have not been positively accepted by others within the group, they have been rejected. While on the other hand there are those who are not even acknowledged to be part of the group, they are either positively or negatively accepted by their rest.
In a group there are also those who have chosen themselves, within the entire group. The two find each other as best of friends or they understand each other more than they do to others. They usually have a stronger feeling of attraction and can be said to have mutual attraction, between themselves. In the same group, there is a situation where one person is attracted to another person but in the same sequence, the other is attracted to another person. Therefore they form a long chain of people who are mutually attracted to one another and in some cases they have little or no link among themselves. In this chain existing in a socially networked group, all the members linked in this chain always lead to a star/ the first person who formed the chain.
In a group there is a situation when a pair with mutual attraction to each other or when small groups disintegrates from the larger pattern and the remaining members of the group are not chosen by anyone in the separated patterns are termed as Islands. These remaining people are usually rejected by all the groups which have formed, meaning they cannot join any of the group hence, making the islands.
A circle or a triangle pattern is formed among friends in a group when the last person to be involved in the group comes to be attracted to the first person to form the group. If the group has more than three members they will form a circle but if the members are three in numbers they will form a triangular pattern.
