I, therefore, ask: Am I going out the way… to those situations in which the way is unclear or hazardous or offers opportunities for creative achievement? I believe that with the situation that I have attained in my career as a senior sales director in the confection business, I can say that I have achieved the self-determination to really get what I want in life. I am basically a man of my own and of course, there were uncertainties but I just looked at them as challenges.

Another point is on Dr. Horsman's (2006) statement citing Greenleaf (1977, pp. 13-14) that the servant-leader is servant first and it begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first and hence the conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. I have little doubt that I am a servant by natural feeling and that I know I want to serve. This natural feeling could not be checked easily by just anybody because I believe it is something subjective. The feeling is just as natural. The feeling is something that is a result of deliberate choice; I believe I got the best choice of what I presently do.

Dr. Horsman (2006), citing Greenleaf (1996, p. 14) also talked about the life of prophet, seeker, and leader which are inextricably linked. According to the author, the prophet is described to bring vision and penetrating insight; a seeker brings openness, aggressive searching, and good critical judgment, while leader adds the art of persuasion backed up by persistence, determination, and the courage to venture and risk. Perhaps I may not be a prophet because my vision may not be as what the biblical prophets had but I believe I have the capacity to look at the future with optimism. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
