A Winning Political Strategy A political party is a collection of communities, a union of small groups dispersed throughout the country that are linked by co-coordinating institutions. Any progressive political party in the world requires a formidable political strategy for it to win an election. This is ideally paramount since there is no party that can win ultimately without it. This paper is going to explore the ultimate winning strategy for the Urbanians, which will be the Progressive Socialists (PS) Party winning strategy (Barbara and Robert 17). The Progressive Socialists (PS) is the main party that will ultimately win the elections but it can only win the elections through a coalition with the Conservatives of Urbania (CU). The Progressive Socialists (PS) Party’s ideology is on reformed communism whereas the ideology for the Conservatives of Urbania (CU) is conservative. These two ideologies when brought together and blended well will automatically win the elections with a landslide. Information states that the votes swing to the left meaning that the Progressive Socialists Party is in a better position to form a coalition with the Conservatives of Urbania Party (Barbara and Robert 19). The Progressive Socialists have an exceptionally strong winning point on the ideal tax rate, which is to keep the tax rates as low as possible as compared to the other parties. This is a strong campaign point since the majority of the Urbanians will be able to enjoy extra savings after taxation. This is ideal for the economy since it will spur growth and individual investments will increase. Naturally, people are attracted to parties that will ensure that they will tax them minimal tax, which is an advantage to the Progressive Socialists Party. The ideological type of the Progressive Socialists Party also is particularly strong considering the concept that they have in regard to being reformed communist (Palombara and Weiner 7). Currently in the world, there is a humungous concept that capitalism is not working. This is evident from the recent recession that happened just recently and currently what is happening in Europe. Europe is experiencing the Euro Crisis due to the capitalist’s ideology and therefore the reformed communist ideology is decidedly much ideal. The Conservatives of Urbania (CU) Party ideology is on conservative. This means that a combination of both ideologies, which are, reformed communist and conservative will be a strong alliance when both parties merge for a coalition. The origin of political parties and the circumstances under which parties first arise is paramount. This means that in a developing political system, the party’s initial tone and configuration have a significant effect on the kind of parties that subsequently emerge (Palombara and Weiner 7). This coalition will be an externally created party meaning that the parties will merge outside the legislature and invariably involve some challenges to the ruling group and a demand for representation. The stakes are too high for both parties to have the majority votes, which in turn, will lead to majority representation. A ruling coalition requires a majority representation in order to ensure that the ruling governments’ agendas are pushed forward for effect legislation. This will also ensure that the opposition does not sabotage the ruling party’s operations (Palombara and Weiner 10). The purpose of the coalition between the Progressive Socialists (PS) Party and the Conservatives of Urbania (CU) Party would be to build grassroots organizations that would ensure a win. Since both parties ideologies can be harmonized together, both parties will have a common vision during the campaigns. This will ensure that the coalition parties exist with the organization and structure leading to a visionary direction and leadership. The key strategy here is to ensure that the partners have a feeling of them being partners rather than feeling part of the campaign (Palombara and Weiner 12). The Progressive Socialists (PS) Party leadership should ensure to meet the Conservatives of Urbania Party leadership so that they can chart the way forward. This coalition will be an excellent source of grassroots support. Each party will independently direct its substance and growth of the coalition in order to ensure the coalition’s support. Though it takes a lot of time to build a coalition, it will be the only way to win the elections. This challenge can be overcome by the use of volunteers who have extensive ground contacts and time to head up the process of coalition building (Barbara and Robert 18). The strongest point for the coalition to sell to the Urbanians would be the issue about taxes and the ideologies manifesto that both parties share. Both parties would need to use the branch basic element in order to win the elections. The branch basic element system is extensive and it endeavors to enroll members to multiply the numbers, which eventually increases its total strength. Quantity is the key factor and the politics of winning an election is all about the numbers. The branch system has various characteristics, which include, the branch being wide open and it appeals to the masses whereby they feel to belong to the party or coalition (Barbara and Robert 23). Progressive Socialists Party has a reformed communist ideology and it therefore works well with the branch element. This applies also to the Conservatives of Urbania Party’s ideology of conservative meaning that the coalition will be enticing and appealing to the masses. This is what the coalition of both parties requires for a landslide win strategy. Since the branch system is built on the commune system, it would attract the masses largely because each branch operates on its own but share the same vision. This enables the coalition to; effectively manage the various branches (Barbara and Robert 23). The branch system ensures that the masses are closely knit together and even after elections, the branches remain highly active. The branch system ensures that there are regular meetings that which are followed by discussions. Experience shows that meetings have a ripple effect on the masses whereby challenges are ironed out and various strategies and solutions are sort in these meetings. The branch system has a more perfected internal organization. In this system, the hierarchy of the branch is more definite and the division of duties is more precise (Barbara and Robert 24). The main integration potential of both parties rests on a number of factors whose visible end results is the attraction of the maximum number of voters on election day. A coalition of both parties ensures that adequate finances are available. This is particularly critical since the coalition will need to mass register their members and this will lead to a humungous amount of money. Mass-membership will also be done through mass media. This will be a key factor in political communication, which can be done through the mass media (Epstein 233). The need for professional staffs to manage mass-media campaigns will be vital. This talent can be tapped from the party members to ensure they feel that they belong to the party. Some of the staff, which is required, include television technicians, public relations, advertising, speech -writing, and even organizational management. Since the coalition will have many members, advertisements for the various jobs can be done and strictly offered to the members of the coalition only. This will ensure coalition loyalty and best talents for the coalition (Epstein 233). For the coalition between both parties of the Progressive Socialists and the Conservatives of Urbania to work effectively and to have popularity, both parties will have to do a joint nomination. This will bring both parties together as one and the people will have the ultimate choice to choose their ideal leader. This is called the hypothesis of illusory choice. The principle of popularity sovereignty states that the people must choose the leader they want. This involves the people at the grassroots ensuring that the coalition has a grass root support, which is particularly vital for a win. Giving the people power to vote at the nominations ensures that people have control on whom they will eventually choose on the Election Day (Berger 274). This principle facilitates easier makes it easier to govern the people. The people cannot oppose a regime whereby they had a hand in voting for the leader. The coalition would last because of maintaining consent, which they would do by constituting the conditions of choice. This hypothesis operates in two parts, which are the illusion of choice and the illusion of community. The illusion of choice ensures the party is popular whereas illusion of community ensures that the party is a collective body. (Berger 274). The coalition has to agree on how they will share the seats after winning the election. Each party in the coalition has its own vast interest and this makes it mandatory for both parties to agree. This will also touch on the concerns of participation by the people’s representatives in the executive branch of the government. The coalition will require winning majority seats to as it can for a formidable government that will not encounter governance challenges. Once it has the majority seats, cabinet seats will be distributed in accordance to the signed pact that they had agreed on earlier on when forming the coalition (Lijphart 91). The coalition to be formed will depend on two factors, which are office -seeking and policy-seeking factors. There are coalitions that are formed based solely by the desire to get into office whereas there are those, which are formed based on policies. The winning coalition between the Progressive Socialists Party and the Conservatives of Urbania Party will have to be consultative so that they can blend both factors in the coalition. The game of numbers is what makes politics resulting to a win. Thus, the coalition to be formed cannot afford to ignore this fundamental fact. The other issue would be the issue of policies. The harmonization of both ideologies would be for the benefit of the coalition to win majority seats and eventually a landslide wins (Laver and Schfield 97). In conclusion, for a landslide win by the Progressive Socialists (PS) Party, it will have to enter into a coalition with the Conservatives of Urbania (CU) Party. Both parties do have different ideologies, which can be harmonized to develop a hybrid ideology. They both have strengths concerning their parties stand on taxes, which would highly boost their chances of winning. A pre-coalition pact will be necessary in order to have an informed direction of what will happen in regards to the sharing of the various seats and on their stand on various policy issues. Statistics from the graph indicate that no single party can win the elections without a coalition. A coalition will be the only way out. This paper highlights on the various winning strategies that the two parties will put in place for them to have a landslide win. Winning majority seats will be inevitable if the coalition is to govern properly, and so it is paramount that the pre-coalition pact is signed with all issues and challenges ironed out. Consultation and harmonization of the various policies and ideologies will ultimately ensure that a win is inevitable.
