When the sum of forces acting on an object is zero, the object is said to be in equilibrium and it either moves in a straight line with constant speed or remains at rest. A rotating object cannot be in equilibrium as it does not move in a straight line. This implies that a force…

The diameter of the shaft and the distance from the shaft to the indicator are then measured and recorded. Hand is then used to spin the shaft until the hanging weight passes directly over the indicator. With the radius held constant, the time taken by 50 revolutions is recorded. From this, frequency of the motion can be determined and hence centripetal force on the mass.
To determine the actual force required to stretch the spring enough to hold the weight over the indicator, a string is connected to the mass and passed over to the pulley. Weights are then added to the end of the string until the mass is positioned over the indicator. The value of force obtained will be correct and can be used in calculating the uncertainty in the value of centripetal ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

However, this force exhibits significant variations based on any given body’s location on earth’s surface besides influenced by both altitude and latitude (Hu?ttl 19). Premise asserting effects due to altitude states g changes inversely relative to the distance from the world’s center; hence, its values are 9.78m/s2 at equator and 9.83m/s2 at poles (Hu?

The Triangle of forces (Engineering Science)
In above diagram (figure 1), actually, the converse of the triangle of forces theorem is investigated, that is “ if three forces P, Q, and R meeting at a point are known to be in equilibrium, then their magnitude and directions can be represented by the sides of a triangle

Electromagnetic: Force on Conductors in Magnetic Fields
Magnetic force acting on a current can be established by adding the magnetic force acting on each charge that contributes to the current. When an electric wire is exposed to a magnet, the current being carried in the wire will be affected by a magnetic field. The consequence often comes in form a force.
