The disk exhibits both rotational motion and transitional motion as it rolls down the plank. Since it rolls without slipping, its bottom is momentarily at rest and the distance, velocity, and acceleration of the centre of mass is directly related to the angle of rotation, angular velocity, and angular acceleration of the centre of mass. The total mechanical energy of the disk is the sum of its kinetic energy of its centre of mass, rotational energy about its centre of mass and gravitational potential energy of its centre of mass.
The total time for the sides are different, time for when the plank is warped concave up is longer than when the concave is warped down since the disk faces higher friction when the concave is warped up hence taking more time and energy in overcoming friction to reach the end
Predicted velocity is lower on both cases as evidenced by the data i.e. predicted velocity is 0.7672m/s while velocity in the first and second case are 0.7968m/s and 0.813m/s respectively. This is so because predicted velocity does not take care of friction effects and errors in performing the ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...Physics 2212 Lab 7 CENTRIPETAL FORCE (Partner’s experiment: Purpose of the experiment: To check Newton’s second law for circular motion when only force is centripetal force provided by a spring Theory According to Newton’s second law of motion the acceleration of an object is inversely proportional to the mass of the object and directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force. Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The relationship between force, mass and acceleration is represented as follows. F= ma Where: F is the force applied on the object (N) m is the mass of the object (Kg) a is the acceleration (m/s2) Newton’s second law of motion...

...Yield Shear Stress and Modulus of Rigidity In this experiment the modulus of rigidity and yield shear stress are determined for specimens of mild steel and brass of circular cross section. In this case, the shear property was used to measure the maximum torque measured at the notional strength, rigidity and the shear strength by y= yield shear, stress. Generally, as far as this experiment was concerned, three theory equations were applied. These were (1) , (2) And (3) Introduction Most components used in the current world, are characterized by a shear stress often induced in them when a torque is applied (Hearn, 1997). Fenner and other (1984) indicated that the modulus of rigidity is given by the ratio of stress to shear... Shear...

This has majorly been attributed to; poor development of the children during the tender age, less attention by parents, teachers and caregivers, family environment, financial status, ethnicity/language and television/media. As pointed out by Evesham & Media, success of school going children in their studies and ability to interact with peers is dependent to a very high percentage on their communications skills. This is the time when the kids get... Communication ...
