HOW DOES THE UTILIZATION OF HEALTHY BEHAVIORS DECREASE THE INCIDENCE OF HYPERTENSION IN AFRO AMERICAN INDIVIDUALS WITH PREHYPERTENSION' HOW DOES THE UTILIZATION OF HEALTHY BEHAVIORS DECREASE THE INCIDENCE OF HYPERTENSION IN AFRO AMERICAN INDIVIDUALS WITH PREHYPERTENSION' Introduction The objective of this document is for the author to gain an understanding of the different research that has been carried out into the area of the correlationship that exists between the utilization of healthy behaviours and the decrease in the incidence of hypertension in Afro American individuals with hypertension. The author as a family nurse practitioner is very involved in the Afro American community and its health initiatives and hopes that through the knowledge gained from completing this analysis, she will be able to contribute further to the health and well being of the community in terms of hypertension prevention. In this document the author will first discuss the concept of healthy behaviours, then the author will go on to discuss the research that exists on reducing the risk of hypertension, the reason for the choice of subject, a summary and introduction to the topic, an analysis of the literature that exists on the subject and finally the knowledge that has been gained from that literature, the strengths and weaknesses of the literature that exists and an evaluation of what new knowledge is required.
