25 July What are your reasons for returning to school this year? I abandoned studies long time ago when I got married at the age of 22. At the time of marriage, I had just completed 12th grade in a high school in Guyana. Since then, it has been 16 years and I have not advanced my academic career. I devoted these 16 years to my family. Now that my kids are quite grown up and are advancing in their own studies, I have resolved to return to school because of three main reasons. First, I have completed the basic English language course and have secured band 7 in each of the four modules i.e. speaking, listening, reading and writing in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

This stays as an evidence of the fact that I have developed my competence in English and that I am eligible for admission into any school in US. Secondly, I would like to find a job of a teacher in a school. In order to acquaint myself with the required skills for the job, I need to get a diploma in G.E.D. Thirdly, 16 years ago, I was not able to finance my studies in college. But over the course of time, I have saved enough money to finance my education in college. Getting the G.E.D. diploma was my dream that I abandoned 16 years back.

Now that I am able to do it, I would like to advance both of my academic and professional careers. Thus, my reasons for returning to school this year are my competence in English, affordability and wish for academic and professional advancement.
