Running Head: Leadership Insert His/her Leadership basically means providing goals and objectives to an organization and then generating various productive ways to fulfill those goals and objectives. It is also an effective way of enhancing the abilities of employees and motivating them so that the organization can take the best out of its employees. Leadership usually resides in the hands of higher authorities such as managers, chief executive officers (C.E.Os) and chief financial officers (C.F.Os) etc.
and they are the ones who lead their work force towards a common destination. But leadership can be classified in to another category which can be the leadership qualities that reside in every individual. There are two ways through which one can lead others first is the position or the office at which a particular person is held and second is the influencing qualities that are present in a specific person. These are the qualities that persuade others to follow that person regardless of the fact that the position at which he is held is not that significant.
There are different ways in which one can perform leadership activities without being a manager or a decision maker. First way is that he can provoke others to follow him if he has a strong personality, a knack to deal with difficult situations swiftly, a systematic way to perform different tasks efficiently and other various qualities that are essential for surviving in the competitive world of business. Such qualities help a person to stand out of all the odds and to accomplish different complicated tasks without much difficulty.
People will surely follow the traits of a person who can out stand different manipulating situations easily and if they will follow him then this surely will bring different positive and enhancing changes in their personality and work life and thus without being a manager, a person with strong personality can lead others towards betterment and in this way he will benefit the organization as well as other employees. One can also provide leadership by setting up goals for himself and then by fulfilling them.
Though the overall goal will be provided by the higher authorities, one can divide the task provided to him into various stages and then can accomplish the goal more efficiently by clearing all those stages. In this way one can motivate others towards adapting a new approach and getting better results. And if the employees will get better outcome this will ultimately benefit the organization. A person with positive attitude, high spirits and enthusiasm is always a source of motivation for others.
If that person is not a manager even then he can be a source of motivation for his colleagues. He can provoke them to do their best and can help them in finding out their fields of specialization. Such person can also be helpful in promoting team work. (Boone & Kurtz, 2003) Thus it is not necessary that only managers, higher authorities or decision makers can provide leadership. Any employee in the organization who has outstanding traits in his personality, who knows how to tackle with different situations, who can generate different ways of accomplishing various tasks quickly and efficiently and who has got a positive “ready to do” attitude, can surely become a productive and efficient source of leadership and motivation for his colleagues and even for his seniors and employers.
Such a person can also benefit the organization to great extent by bringing the best out of its employees. Such a person and his personality and ways of performing different tasks persuade others to follow him and his ways so that they can get better and positive results and in the end this following benefits the organization and the employees to great heights. Such a person also motivates others through his positive attitude and he ensures them that they surely can perform better and can become a precious resource of the organization.
(Madura, 2009) Hence without being held at a significant and higher position a person can be a productive source of leadership for other employees and an efficient and valuable human resource and employee for the organization.
