Attributes of a Good Friend - Essay Example

Youssef possesses good qualities in a human being like forgiveness, loving, a person with good behavior, etc. However, he also possesses some negative attributes like heedlessness in terms of enforcing his words in action, an orthodox, person who wastes time by hanging out with friends, etc. Though Youssef has both negative and positive traits in him, the positive aspect of his basic character weighs more than his negative side, as the attribute of love can obscure many dark traits in a person’s character.

If we shift our attention to his educational aspect, he is not very good at it as he is utmost careless as far as his education is concerned. He is careless about his classes and education. A person can never do much in any field as long as he is careless with it. Besides, a bad memory is a serious impediment to the path of education. It surprises me how he manages to study civil engineering.

An entertaining characteristic that can be perceived in my friend is when he is judged concerning his reaction to strangers. An instance would be the day when he saw an ugly girl in a shopping mall with his friends. He ended up commenting about that girl’s ugliness to his friends, in his mother tongue and was placed in an awkward position when that girl understood everything he said about her. This shows that he likes to pass comments about strangers which however is not very good for him, as he has to face problems many times, due to this habit.

Another important evaluation would be to judge him with respect to his endeavors to search for new friends and smartness with respect to mingling with new people. In my own case would be the best example of this case is how smoothly he added me on Facebook, talked with me, and became my best friend within four months. This attribute helps him a lot to mingle with new people and make new friends very quickly. No wonder! He has so many friends.

Another important aspect in which he may be evaluated is with respect to his hobbies. He loves to play football, chat on Facebook and loves to stay in a state of hilariousness. A person playing football, and laughing a lot remains in good health. Therefore, this is indeed a good attribute helping him to excel.

The evaluation focused on many aspects of Youssef and assisted me to arrive at conclusions about my best friend. Evaluation is indeed helpful in assessing people and this is the reason why Dickins and Germaine state, “Evaluation is an intrinsic part of teaching” (3).
