The norms are different from ethical norms because such things as workers’ compensation are part of the contract and managers are penalized if they don’t comply with them. However, most of the ethical values are not stipulated in any contract and managers have to be totally answerable to their own conscience. There is no obligation on them.
Response to classmate 1:

After thoroughly reviewing your response to the question asked, I have reached the conclusion that your response is totally off the track! In the first half of your response, when you insist that workers should learn the norms and traditions of every culture they move into for the purpose of work so that they may not offend the indigenous people of new cultures, and do their job smoothly, you fundamentally talk about ethics. This is what the teachings of ethics are. But this was not the requirement of the question. In the question, you were asked to compare Ethics to other subjects and identify ethical shades in subjects other than Ethics. But you did not do that!
In the second half of your response, you did refer to Accounting as a subject, but again, you did not tell in what way ethics is taught in the subject of Accounting! Agreed that your brother’s job does not require him to socialize with coworkers, but how does this answer the question?
Response to classmate 2:

I see that you have sufficiently answered the question asked by pointing out the ethical concerns of the subject of Management. I agree with you that sound management requires a manager to keep the subordinates satisfied and happy. You have presented a very rational analysis of the matter by highlighting Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in your response. Bodies like OSHA are really meant to provide workers with safety and health in the workplace. In the absence of such regulations, workers’ health and safety are often endangered because of the hectic routine activities and demands of the work. OSHA has formulated such rules that would ensure the achievement of safety on-site if applied correctly. The safety achieved is solely for the betterment of the workforce, and is thus fundamentally related to Ethics.

You have also mentioned Accounting in your response, but I personally feel that you have not provided the audience with robust proof of the potential ways Accounting promotes Ethics. However, most of your response directly answers the questions and is to the point! Read More
