Preparation for a job interview: Interview is of huge significance in the recruitment process and a very stressful event in the life of most candidates (Pollick, 2010). Some of the key factors that the interviewers tend to judge about the candidate are the candidate’s confidence, presentation, professionalism in attitude and interpersonal skills. This paper discusses how a candidate should prepare for judgment of these skills in the interview, so that the knowledge is applicable to a vast majority of audience.
It is advisable to take a whole night sleep prior to the day of interview so that the candidate may appear for interview with a fresh mind. It is best to show up in business attire. Colors should be light and decent. It is best to wear shades of white, black, blue and grey. The candidate should not consume a heavy meal prior to interview, though a light snack is obviously recommendable. The candidate should try to assess the field specific questions he may be asked, and have answers ready for them.
Also, the candidate should do a bit of research on the company (All Business, 2011). This practice raises the confidence level of the candidate. During interview, the candidate should try not to speak wrong about a concept if the concept is unfamiliar. A “sorry” is better than saying something that does not make sense. The candidate’s confidence is extremely important for an interview, and that should be displayed anyway. Finally, the candidate should maintain a nice and decent tone throughout the interview.
