Seeking for an Opportunity to Join Graduate Nursing School - Personal Statement Example

Serving people in my community and watching the smile on their faces when they regain normal health has been my great motivation in nursing. My aspiration in this career is to get a better opportunity to serve at a broader level, fully provide what is required of a nursing practitioner and support my family. With an opportunity to join the graduate nursing school for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program, I can be able to achieve this.

As a career path I have chosen and have a lot of passion for, I have a number of achievements that I am proud of for the years I have practiced critical care nursing. My three years of experience as a Critical Care Nurse in SICU has really shaped me into who I am today and triggered my motivation to further my studies to be an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I have been able to serve patients who need acute care with professionalism and value for human life. My exemplary dedication to providing direct bedside care to critically or acutely ill pediatrics, adults and neonatal patients is the justification behind my CCRN certification. I have been dedicated to these patients during their time of need and given them the best.

In my practice, I have exemplified teamwork and team leadership skills too. I have held the position of ‘nurse in charge of the SICU unit in my place of work. During this period, I illustrated to my colleague's good workplace practices that would make the workplace effective and enjoyable.  In addition to being in charge of the unit, I have also been a preceptor to new graduates and interns joining Critical Care Nursing. Many interns and new graduates have been successful in Critical Care Nursing through my help since I have been a vital source of knowledge and motivation to them.  Outside the direct practice, I am a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and a member of the Unit Council in SICU, which oversees safe practice and protocol.

Having practiced Critical Care Nursing, I have multiple experiences that heighten my knowledge to deal with critically ill patients. Joining your graduate nursing school will make me an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with broader knowledge to provide patients with better services in a wider area to a larger group of individuals I have not been able to reach. I will also be in a better position to provide for my family and the community. Such ability will be of great honor to my career, family, community, and the country at large. A move from one step to another in this career is a great effort towards self-actualization, which is my dream. An opportunity to join your graduate nursing school is dream come true for me.
