Nurse Informatics al Affiliation Nurse Informatics Future of nursing In my opinion quality and performance improvement initiatives are driving significant changes in the healthcare system. The pace of these changes has been increasing over the years with hospitals and health care systems creating staff roles for nurse informaticists, who rarely attend to patients but concentrate on collecting, processing and managing data and information to support nursing practice, administration, education, research and expansion of nursing knowledge.

Some hospitals have changed their scope of practice to improve health care delivery i.e. some hospitals have allowed nurses prescribe medication without a physician’s supervision (National Academy of Sciences, 2010). In order to transform the healthcare system, it is important to have a balance of skills among all players in this field. To achieve this there should be a balance in the number of people employed and the type of roles they perform and where they perform these duties. ReferencesNational Academy of Sciences. (2010).
