Which step of concept analysis requires research on the concept? The theory context of nursing is constructed in a vibrantprocess that originates from practice and is replicated through research, primarily by review and development of theories and concepts (Townsend & Scanlany, 2001). According to Ziegler (2013), it is imperative to examine the experiences in nursing practice in order to determine the attributes. The examination of these phenomena engrosses the definition and analysis of the concept of interest.

As a result, concept development and analysis is essential in the enhancement and evolution of nursing knowledge. Concept analysis process in nursing theory development involves numerous steps. Walker and Avant (1994) propose that the identification of the concept and its uses requires research. This is because concepts are articulated by a phrase or word. As a result, Walker and Avant (1994) acknowledge that the analysis of a concept must unavoidably be a review of the descriptive word and its use.

To me, concept analysis is; therefore, an examination of the term and its significance in nursing and its comparison to other related phrases (McEwen & Wills, 2014). The identification of the concept and its use requires research because lack of research would lead to wrongful identification of the concept, and result to wrongful conclusions and the whole process would be wrong (Ziegler, 2013). According to McEwen and Wills (2014), it is imperative for the researcher to use research to identify the concept and its applications in the development of the theory.
