My Perspective as a Nurse and How I Think Differently I have always perceived nursing as a calling because nurses have diverse and tough duties than any other medical practitioners. The traditional role of the nurse is of a care provider hence the need to handle patients with care. A nurse has a closer relationship with the sick because they are always there to check and care for the patient’s need. However, in the recent years most individuals do not pursue nursing as a calling but as a career hence the recent misbehavior among them.

Nurses’ attitude from being kind and caring has recently changed to being rude and careless altering the whole tradition role of a nurse. The most recent case being the Stanford scandal where a nurse was blamed for being rude to a patient. This is said that the nurse refused to help an elderly woman from a wheelchair to bed. The nurse arraigned in court and in the hearing; a witnesses testified that the nurse would not lift the accident victim fearing that she would soil her clothes. Most nurses have been accused of administering wrong doses on patients simply because they do not like them.

I think it is time for nurses to respect the nursing field, take it as a passion not as a scheme to get money, and contribute to the patients’ fast recovery (Grossman & Valiga, 2013). Additionally, I think nurses should work collaboratively with doctors, pharmacists, and the community on treating ailments to improve quality of life. ReferencesGrossman, S., & Valiga, T. M. (2013). The new leadership challenge: Creating the future of nursing. Philadelphia: F.A. Davis..
