Sharing of information is very important and being at the convention will provide a real opportunity to share with others and acquire new ideas with regards to remaining healthy. The information will help a myriad of the populace to improve the health standards. 1. NA Meeting Report (Baltimore MD) Substance abuse has been reported to be affected the lives of thousands of people across the globe. Maryland is not exceptional. Attending the convention will be an opportunity of providing information on some of the effects of substance abuse and the risks which are involved. Through sharing of information, there was a real experience of some of the substances which are often abused and the risks associated. There is also a guideline on how some of these cases can be handled. (Commission on Social Determinants of Health final report 1) There was also lesson son some of the preventive measure of substance abuse in the county. Besides pr3eventive issues, there are also a number of programs in the county which are designed to deal with the issues of substance abuse. The convention provided a platform whereby those who attended got the opportunity to be taken through some of the programs existing to deal with the issue. Drugs endanger the lives of children. Unfortunately, most parents and guidance are not aware of some of the signs of substance abuse. During the convention, I got the opportunity to get a vast knowledge on some of the signs of substance abuse besides the ways of handling them. There are also a number of drugs which endanger the lives of children. Some of these substances are not known to a number of parents. AA Meeting Report (Baltimore MD) The Alcoholics Anonymous is one of the fellowship of men and women sharing their real experiences, strength and hope with one another as they hope to solve the problem of alcoholism. The program helps in recovering from the problem of alcohol abuse. The only requirement that members need to have is to stop drinking and be at least ready to share experiences with others who have also been affected with t he problem. AA membership does not require any membership fee. The group Is self supporting through contribution ns. Attending the groups meeting is of great experience as one gets first hand information from persons who have been drinking and have appreciated why it is not healthy for one to drink. These persons know of all dangers which are associated with drinking and therefore attending the meetings is a real conviction as to why one should stop drinking. The group is not allied to any sect, political affiliation, denomination, institution or even an organization. It does not engage in any level of controversy and neither endorses nor opposes any cause in the country. The main goal or hope is to remain sober and ensure that other group of people practice sobriety. Attending the forum is a real opportunity to deal with the issues that affect the alcoholics. They believe that it is easier for an alcoholic to convince one another. Being part of the team provides an opportunity to know why people involve themselves in drinking and how it can be solved. 3. Staffing Communication is very important in an organization. The reported absenteeism might be having justification and therefore taking radical actions might not be good. The first thing is to check each and every department so as to come up with real persons who are affected with the problem. After getting the real names, I will investigate the reasons as to why they are not coming to work. Necessary actions will be taken when necessary in terms of warning or other disciplinary action. Finally I will provide and circulate a memo to all departments reminding employees on the consequences of absenting from work without any clear permission from the respective supervisors. (Hackett 1) --The plans is to ensure that each and every person gets clear communication on the risks of missing jobs. Each and every department should have a system whereby all employees sign daily. The main goal of this is to ensure that there is ease in tracking the persons who do not attend jobs on daily basis. -----I will ensure that communication is proper in such a way that if any employee is having issues then they should be free to report to their departmental heads. There will also be suggestion boxes whereby if there are issues then they can easily share their concerns. ----Training should be done on frequent basis so that people get to know some of these issues. The compliance note should be sent to all departments. This will make it easier for the communication among staff members.
