Developing a Question in PICOT Format Affiliation: Introduction: PICOT is a format that has been found to be useful in framing of research questions for any research work. Different researches conducted on the usefulness of following the PICOT format suggest that researchers should follow the format to get an effective research question on which their work can be based and produce structured and meaningful results (Rios, Ye & Thabne, 2010, p.7).
Research Question on PICOT Format:
Depending on the components of the PICOT format that includes the (P)opulation, (I)ntervention, (C)omparison, (O)utcome and (T)ime, a research question may be developed as follows: Among the young generation of the modern world (P), the dependency on technology has increased to a high level (I) in comparison to earlier times (C), having both positive and negative impacts on their activities (O) in the times of a rapidly developing world (T).
Thus if a research is conducted based on this question, the study would be conducted on the younger generation who forms the target population of the study. The emphasis of the study would be on an understanding of the use of technology in the modern times and comparing the situation with earlier days. The outcomes or consequences would be reflected; the study being based on the time period and development of the technology in the world.
The PICOT format gives a clear direction of the research objective and hence enables the researcher to use the appropriate measures that may lead to the desired results or learning through a proper research design and implementation and preparation of report.

Picot Question In Hospital Patients

...? Picot Question In Hospital Patients Introduction There is a big difference between the use of specialty beds, dry visco-elasticpolymer bed, and the standard beds for the patients with limited mobility especially with regard to pressure ulcers. The foam outlays on the specialty tables reduce the vulnerability to pressure ulcers compared to the standard beds, which lack such comfort. The specialty bed also has a visco-elastic polymer foam mattress, which absorbs energy hence preventing pressure ulcer as compared to the standard beds. The specialty beds provide extra relief through the use of technology in the creation of dynamic surfaces. This accommodates the patients who have limited mobility hence prevention of pressure ulcers... the...

Hypoxia, atelectasis and the nosocomial infections are most frequent complications amongst the critically ill patients. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to describe the evidence that the continuous lateral rotation is quite effective than no rotation in the prevention of the acute respiratory distress syndrome and lung injury patients who are critically ill. This is through the review of literature using the PICOT...

...: this element identifies the results or the intentions of the research question; thus, it is measurable and it entails reliving or elimination of symptoms in a patient (Koshar, 2011). Time: this element refers to the time lines set in relations to the research (Koshar, 2011). PICOT Framework Questions 1) What are the effects (Outcome) of hyperglycemia (Intervention) among children with diabetes (Population) compared to adults (Comparison) during their first three months after diagnosis (Time)? 2) How long does it take to recover (Outcome) for a patient, who has undergone a surgery for hip replacement (Population) and develop an infection after surgery (Intervention)...

Once we access the global link for the libraries, we can choose the advanced search where we can specify the search criteria, whether we opt to do the selection with the author’s name, resource title, assignment name, year of publication, content of the material and the city of publication. If we choose to use the title of the publication, we would input title like “HIV positive children below 12 years”. Another option would be “HIV children below 12 years with their parents and caregivers disclosed to them”. The...

...of life. Heart failure is a chronic disease that requires patients to develop confidence in their self-care abilities to maintain and improve quality of life. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: Findings from this research study suggest that nurse practitioners need to first identify patients with heart failure who lack the self-care confidence required to manage their condition at home, and then focus on specific educational interventions to build confidence in self-care prior to discharge (Britz & Dunn, 2010). 6. Effectiveness of a self-care program in improving symptom distress and quality of life in congestive heart failure patients: a preliminary study. BACKGROUND: Prevalence of heart failure is increasing among older...

Developing a Question-PICOT

...Developing a Question- PICOT al Affiliation Introduction and Background The of Obesity is very common among older nurses community globally. It is clear from research studies that those who suffer from obesity are more likely to suffer from overweight problems as well, especially at old age (Marchiondo, 2014). The effects and risks of obesity include high level of weight gain, poor blood circulation and respiratory complications (Newman, 2009). Recent research indicates that Obesity is mostly dangerous to older patients as it increases the patient to risk to other complication conditions such as high blood pressure and respiratory challenges (Tesauro, & Cardillo, 2011). Identifying a Problem and Developing a question

...Identifying a Problem and Developing a Question Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection Identifying the Problem The problem in question is urinary tract infection associated with the catheters. As such, this is an investigation on Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CA-UTIs). The catheter associated urinary tract infections occur mostly because of the inoculation of organisms into the bladder through urethral catheters. These organisms end up promoting colonization through provision of a surface for bacterial adhesion, as well as causation of mucosal irritation. As such, the presence of a urinary catheter stands out as one of the most important risk factors for bacteriuria...

...PICOT Question al Affiliation PICOT Question Summary of the Nursing Situation When I was working at Arkansas hospital, the surgeon gave me a pen and I marked the wrong limb, leading to irreparable damages to the patient who had his right limb amputated instead of the left one. It was a devastating experience for the entire team and the patient since it altered his life. It damaged the reputation of the health facility after the patient filed a legal suit, causing financial loss and needless suffering and pain. On further review of the cause of the incident, it was noted that the patient’s test results had been mixed up, there were incorrect markings, there was poor communication between the nurses and the doctors, poor teamwork... situation,...

P-elderly patients I-reduction of falls C- No advanced education O-patient outcomes Reduction of falls in elderly patients entails interventions at the level of the patient, the family or caretakers and the nurse. Falls are common among the elderly due to factors associated with age and other comorbid conditions (Johnson, George, & Tran, 2011). The PICOT question subverts the level of the patient and the family in prevention of falls among the elderly. It addresses the intervention... admission...
