Business-based ethics model Lecturer Ethics is a pivotal part of every business. Organizationas use business based ethics models to ensure employees and managers follow appropriate rules of the organization as well as the procedures of the business environment at the workplace. A business based ethics model helps in training and educating employees on appropriate ethical behavior at work. This model also helps in relieving pressure faced by organizations from competitors, consumers, and the entire economic market when carrying out business operations (Wheatley, 2006).
This paper seeks to propose and develope a business based ethics model that can be used as an instrument of getting a views of organizations performance on integrity. The model may be based on questionnaire detailing issues concerning ethics, and must be completed by all the employees in the organization. I suggest that we incorporate various ethical models for numerical predictions such as multiple linera regression, regression trees, and robust regression in order to make questionnaires shorter and efficient.
This will help in assessing the business operations in terms of integrity. However, the major business based ethics model to be adopted by the business is Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). This will help in combining the scores on performance and importance of ethics and integrity in the business workplace. During implementation of this ethics model, the direct scores from performance and the ranking scores on importance from employees are placed on a traditional grid in order to assess views on how best the company performs its business operations on integrity.
The idea of Importance Performance Ananlysis ethics model is used in making the Attention Grid in order to view which items require much attention in the business so as to improve integrity. The data that will be used in building the model will be obtained from a pilot project within the business organization (Owen, 2000). The results of the Business based ethics model will then be evaluated in order to reflect the situation at the business workplace. As a business based ethics model, Importance Performance Analysis Model is composed of three principle constituents, which are perceptions, expectations, and evaluations.
These components are interconnected by organizational values, outcomes, society expectations, norms and beliefs, reconnection, and society evaluations. This model is expected to make contributions to the conceptual framework creation for business ethics. Some tentative summaries are also expected to be drawn from this business based ethics model. Importance Performance Analysis Ethics Model aspires to be highly dynamic, however, the ultimate outcome of the model is dependent on the evolution of contextx and time.
The suggested business based ethics model advocates that business ethics to be an iterative and a continuous process. Technically, there is no particular end of a process, but a reconnection constantly to the initiation of successive process iteration of the business based ethics model. The sub components and the principles of this ethics model previously mentioned construct dynamics of this continuous process. The business based ethics model proposed is also expected to provide guidance on how to explore employee common efforts and attempts to understand business ethics as a phenomenon (Morrison, 2009).
Importance Performance Analysis Ethoc Model is also expected to offer opportunities for research further in the area of business ethics. In summarily, the proposed business based ethics model will promote core values of the organization in the workplace. It will enhance leadership which is the major means through which organizations foster ethical behavior. This is because executive managers and leaders are responsible for setting the tone for ethical behavior through conducting operations of the business in a moral and ethical manner.
Employees may remain unwilling to have ethical guidelines of the organization accepted if the leaders fail to show appropriate ethical behavior. The proposed business ethics model is also expected to embrace the organizational culture which is an intangible environment of business. This is because the organizational culture is used by leaders to pass on the goals, mission and objectives of the buiness and how the employees should work to achieve the goals of the organization. This will also help in fostering elements such as trust, integrity, flexibility, professional behavior and leadership.
Finally, Importance Performance Analysis Ethics Model will ensure that the organization uses a pledge in order to ensure employees display ethical actions when dealing with varying situations of the business at the workplace. These pledges will be confirmed by the signatures of the employees, and state the willingness of the employees to accept and follow the ethical principles of the organization at the workplace. This will also reinforce the importance and performance of business ethics. It will also provide opportunities for employees to report unethical business actions and practices by other employees as well as managers.
