Music as a Medium of Healing

Music is the key to passing a message to the new generation, who thought piping composed music would still be appealing and attractive in soothing one's heart and soul bringing peace and harmony to the listener. It is kind of interesting to share this knowledge that music beats can help in determining the genre of composition. With a smooth but steady beat, it clearly indicates the footsteps of marching soldiers to battle. Though encouraging and appealing, it is the sound of war where several lives will be a lot of bloodsheds, leaving several dead and others injured. The tempo makes it encouraging for the soldiers with the hope of winning a battle because they fight for their homeland, liberty and independence from their oppressors.

What a pleasant and soothing song with a lot of pain on the old cry and death for freedom. Being caught at the moment suddenly a loud and scary sounds attracts my attention opening my eyes the unbelievable happened. The surrounding full of cries and various disordered movements from strangers. It later dawned on me that it was a mere dream, and I had to wake up before it was late. Trying to wash my face to gain reality nothing happened. I felt so scared with little to explain what happened, but my primary strength was the ability to hide and blend in plain sight. By the way, they dressed, spoke and even treated one another it was evident that civilization was miles away, and I had to get back to it.

The case of teleportation was always in the movies that I love watching because they were fiction. I found myself in such a scenario where no was familiar, and every breath was full of either death or blood. Shocking enough was the landscape of the location, it was beautiful in a unique way, The hills were green and the grass tall and robust, the buildings were ancient with no steel roofing but majorly built of stone. There was a vast land before the one could reach the battlefield. The most astonishing scene is the view of a castle carved from stone and unyielding. The landscape was appealing, but the event was devastating with several lifeless bodies lying all over while some cry for attention.

From one hiding locality to another there were different and strange happenings, the mode of dressing was ancient and I recognized it from various displays of the picture on a historical segment on the library. Before I knew it, there was a melody, soothing and comforting but its origination was from on the medics section. I guess it was to help calm the injured while treatment commenced. From the structures and the hospital equipment, I was now sure that I was in a different century and to go back I had to find the root course of my teleportation. It was not going to be easy, but I simply needed to know the year and from that I would figure out a strategy to get myself home.

To blend in and hide my identity, I ditched my clothing and put on some rags I came across the lines and straight looked for a vulnerable position to start my interrogation and walk my way up to the happening because it was like I was in the middle of a historical event. It was a sad scene with various happening and sharp images of death, blood, and injuries. First, my approach was to a young boy to try and know the year of the happening. A direct approach was not suitable because I did not want to create attention to myself it was too risky. I tried a helping hand in gathering medical supplies and bring the element of closure to open a conversation. It was almost impossible but when he spoke the idea of language barrier dawned in creating a much difficult situation to handle. I later opted for non-verbal conversation and it was successful, and he took me to a friendly nurse to help.

According to her explanation, I had teleported back to the sixteenth century a time marked off several battles in Scotland. It was quite amusing, and I later expressed it as a joke, but she asked me to look around and conclude for myself. By this time, I realize the event was real and not a movie, it was the battle of Dunbar (SPURLOCK 185). One of the great wars among Scotland, England and Ireland (SPURLOCK 184). It is written in history that it was one of a kind, but Scotland lost. Losing the battle was definite because of the small native communal division on the land, giving England better chance to conquer their Scottish lands. The campaign claimed a lot of lives, leaving several injured and a number homeless.

Upon realizing the situation and identifying the status of events, I decided to help in the clinic helping administer medication and also because of the soothing harmonies that made me feel comfortable and ready for any future battle-related events. The music concert was unique, and the response was effective. It was quite amazing on what its message was while sitting near the musicians an injured soldier woke up grabbed his bow and arrows and swiftly harmonized to the beats and encouraging himself of a better tomorrow for his family while matching back to battle. Asking on the message the composer had a simple but unique answer, our land, our liberty and the future of the next generation. Trying to understand the answer he elaborated that soldiers fight for a better tomorrow of their kids from the oppression of the English.

To make matters interesting the songs were encouraging, a smile on the nurse’s face while treating a soldier with one hand and leg. The smile represents their appreciation of the sacrifice to match into battle and accept to die for their country and land. It was evident of the painful emotion, but the music placed them in a trance of joy and encouragement placing the event as that of merry rather than sadness. Their commitment in battle and helping the injured was very impressive because the environment was friendly and comfortable. Their belief in the possibilities of winning the fight was quite surprising because they all had responsibility and obligations towards their country.

At first, the emotion was kind of confusing because the smell of blood and dead bodies was frustrating. I felt like the music was consoling the bereaved then I later dawned on why they such steady and enjoyable songs. Straightforward and clear sad songs add more salt to wounds, and the only way to appreciate a fallen soldier is by celebration and encouragement to the remaining standing soldiers. Their plastic smiles brought happiness comforting my soul on the better Parenthood and firm upbringing message to their children. Portraying the fact that times of war there is no room for mourning but the option to fight till the last drop. A message is well sent to the future generation.

Love and trust among the small communities in Scotland showed me a way to view and translate the music. It isn't about a group of beautiful and wonderful songs to create entertainment; it is all about unity and standing by oneself to defend a common interest. Back at home I usually thought that the life of a soldier was full of sorrow and their best friends were their weapons, my conclusion is wrong. Their best strength and friends are their brothers in battle, whether dead or alive. The bond will live for eternity because of their purpose to action. It later came to my realization that the music keeps the memories alive and in the hearts of the living the fallen soldiers live and support in encouragements.

These events made me cry, but they were tears of joy learning how music can bond the living and the dead and the sick and the health. Though to be honest all these were impressive, but the scene was not that welcoming and comfortable because of the torturous cries and expression by the injured soldiers. I put myself there shoes to understand the role of music as a medium of healing the spirit. It was not clear till one of the musicians opened my eyes and heart to the tune and rhythm of the music. Through his procedure, I closed my eyes and forgot about everyone just the sound of the beautiful song. I felt alive no pain or no sense of my location but just a world controlled by the peaceful sound of the pipes controlling the environment. He did it again bring back the feeling of home and family through music.

This tune is reflective in nature since I knew little about the culture and tradition of the people, it was easy to see and try to reflect on all I learned from history about the precolonial error. To think about what and how they celebrated was a little challenging but from their response to such music, it was evident that it was a huge part of their tradition and culture. It meant a lot to the combatants, and the most amazing are the rate at which they joined in the music. The composition made some cry while others appreciate all they have but it was time to fight for their land. It was evident that these soldiers and musicians were connected with strong bonds and appreciation and reflecting on their road to freedom was their only hope to achieve their aim in winning the battle.

It is kind of absurd on what to think in such situations surrounding war and chaos. Blood scares the creep out of me but the way they embrace their fears it is really shocking but astonishing. Why sing songs of war and at times those of joy in such places? It was the main question I focused on getting the answers but at times, it is best to leave some unanswered. But one activity that was incredible is the impact of melody to the wounded soldiers. Some had one eye but after a little medication, they were up and back at the war front with their swords and shields fighting to their last breath. In an ordinary society, ethics demanded the wounded retrieve from battle while new recruits joined but its amazing on the loyalty of these soldiers toward their culture and power of music.

These events jogged my memory on a movie on the Roman Empire about a legion whose main strength relied on their music. While training the different partners on music dictated their various fighting techniques, when to turn, when to to shield and when and how to attack. It quite amazing because their commander also used blindfolding techniques to train his soldiers giving them better chance to survive in night attacks. The most astonishing factor was the fact that no soldier mourned their fallen brothers in battle. It was because they believed that their bond was stronger, and not even death could separate them, but after the appreciated them for their sacrifice and bravery. These songs and tunes create a relationship and enhance movement and the ability for a soldier to adapt and fight with less consideration of death and injuries.

There was much to wonder and much to adore about the ancient composition. Their songs had a steady tempo with fewer pauses. The picture portrayed in the themes majorly created an environment that was full of hope it made me want to dance, but the occasion was very sorrowful, so I sat down and got lost in my thoughts thinking about how to live in the music industry has changed. A simple composition that is very melodious and can earn the composer a better life and future if only they could find a better place to perform. To them, it was about family, home, and land. These were some of the factors that inspired the composition and maintained the originality of the pipe song industry. It is true that such songs are full of memories and at times they fill the gap and acts as abridge to reconnect with a loved one. The reporting business is a risky one and at times my job exposes me to several dangerous environments. Once we covered a story on a fatal road assasiantion of a one of the duke families. The songs played in the occasion had a similar tone. The berieved family was one of a kind, accepting the incident and using music to help them heal. It was astonishing because of their belief that the dead lived among them but in music that helps them with happy memories of the decieased. A theory that I wish one day to study and Dodwilling write a piece about. The event was sorrowfull but the music was quite appealing.

The motion itself impressed me, the tune was that of a group determined soldiers matching to the battlefield with less concern if they would make it. By that time all the historical photos in the library brought meaning and an understanding of how the Scotish history and movement to independence. Their simple mode of dressing, a skirt and a blouse using paint on their faces to show their ethnicity and recognize their own to reduce confusion in the battle fields. The music transforming fear into bravery and hope for a better tomorrow. The most wonderful scene is the type of weapons made, simle forks, swords and hammer curved from stone. The shields were wooden made to protect them from the English arrows.

After understanding the message on the song I sat at a deserted location trying to figure out how to teleport back to civilization, and later the young boy touched his heart and signaled on the fundamental as music. Back into the position, I sat lost in my thoughts then a few minutes later I had someone shout out my name, it was pal Billy, and all the trance and event stopped. Full, of sorrow and despite the English nation about the fact I was silent trying to figure out why and what could have been the course for going back to the past. I had no answer, but the sound of music was the key to all my questions.

The following day as I sat listening to the same music the tempo of the beats and its rhythm gave me a clue to a better idea of the information. I tried to inflict pain by pinching myself while listening to the beats; I felt nothing it then dawned on me that if one believes and puts all his or her trust to music and focus on the message, then a lot can be achieved. An example is the Battle of Dunbar, where the soldiers had the hope to fight for their freedom but later were defeated. Surprising as it seems I admire their courage, loyalty, and composition of soothing and beautiful music.
