This paper briefly explains zero population growth and the manmade disasters on earth based on two movies “An Inconvenient Truth” and “The Human Footprint” on you tube. Zero population growth is a state in which a population rate in a particular region neither increases nor decreases. In other words the birth and death rates were balanced in such regions. If the death rate increases and the birth rate remain stable or decreases then the population may decreases while if the death rate decreases and the birth rate remains same or increases the population may increases.
Achieving Zero Population Growth (ZPG) is a difficult task because of the economic factors, poverty, natural disasters, and diseases, etc. In heavily populated areas, poverty, diseases and social problems may arise and hence most countries like to have a zero population growth in order to gain control over economic development. Zero population growth is definitely better for a country as far its social security and economic developments are concerned. Neither the area nor the natural resources increases on earth and hence every increase in population may result in reduced share of natural resources to each person. Moreover it is difficult for a country to ensure the social security issues like health care and education to all its citizens if the population goes beyond the limit. But at the same time it is not desirable to reduce the population rate to a low level also in order to preserve cultural traditions and ethnic diversity. For example, in most of the gulf countries, the number of expatriates exceeds the number of locals.
As per the figures available, UAE’s population in 2007 was comprised of 864,000 UAE nationals and 3.62 million expatriates, up from 839,000 nationals and 3.39 million foreigners in 2006. The bulk
