With regard to how the Tower was built, it took several hundred workers approximately 24 months to assemble the framework.

The builders used iron and made a structure whose base was oriented with the four compass points and stood at a height of 10,000 feet. It took 26 months, 700 engineering plans, 3,000 workshop drawings, and more than 18,000 parts to complete the construction. The Eiffel Tower has cultural importance. With respect to the event that it was built to commemorate, the French Revolution, the Tower holds cultural significance to the people of France. This is because the French Revolution was a time characterized with events aimed at eliminating dictatorship regimes (Eiffel Tower, n.d). Therefore, the Tower indicates a desire for hope as well as freedom.

As a conclusive point, the Eiffel Tower should never be torn down. Instead, it should continue receiving constant maintenance. This is because it symbolizes the dawn of a new era for the people of Paris after the oppressive regimes were eliminated during the French Revolution (Eiffel Tower, 2008). In addition, the monument receives more visitors than any other monument in the world indicating that it is important to many people around the world.

The other reason is that besides having historical significance, it also has economic significance to the country. By hosting hotels and functioning as a tourist attraction site, the Eiffel Tower contributes to the country’s revenue and therefore deserves preservation.
