Nonverbal communication indicates about two-thirds of all communication. Nonverbal communication can represent a message both with the correct body signals and verbally. Examples of signals include the mediation of personal space, physical characteristics or features and unconscious and conscious signals and gestures. When body language that is conveyed fails to match a verbal message, a wrong message can be relayed. In addition nonverbal communication basically strengthen first impression in common occasions and situations such as attracting a partner, and are useful in business interviews.

Nonverbal communication entails encoding (process of generating information for instance gestures, postures and facial expressions) and decoding (act of interpreting the information received) processes (Knapp et al 2014). In this study we are going to focus on clothing which is the most common form of nonverbal communication. This study of clothing and other objects as a form of nonverbal communication is commonly known as artifactics or objectics (Sonneborn, 2012). Different types of clothing worn by an individual usually conveys nonverbal cues about his/her background, personality, financial status and mostly how other will respond to them.

Different clothing is therefore meant for specific occasions, places occupations etc. for instance if a wear a suit to a casual work, it is obvious that my colleagues are going to be surprised and wonder the kind of a person I am. Some said that I am primitive and therefore dissociated with me. In addition, some were disgusted at how insensitive I am about dress code and therefore made fun of me. However, some were very amused and could not stop laughing at me. I felt so much neglected by my colleagues (Knapp et al 2014).

Clothing styles adopted by an individual normally demonstrate their level of confidence and status.
