Turkle starts his analogy by presenting a machine that imitates the actions of the human being. Here, he presents the role of the robot and their contact with the elderly and children over a longer period. The comfort of the machine has resulted to mass production and nearly all care homes have a pet robot, the sex robot are there for recreation and nurse will soon be replaced by Mechanical nurses (2011).Turkle also discusses to great length the attachment that people have with the web. She interviewed people of all ages and with different social backgrounds to establish their experiences.

She concludes that people have identical patterns in their behaviors. The attachment with technology has displaced parent attachment to their children in late hours and early in the morning. People cradle their smartphone in bed. Therefore, Turkle urges that technology has invaded social habits just like pathogens attach human fresh. He says that technology has brought happiness to the human being because the machine has become a substitute and social contact. The debate on the interaction of technology, science, and society has brought divergent views in the 21st century.

Unlike Turkle, other scholars of the debate argue that science and technology help to improve the health and wellbeing of the people. However, other scholar questions the Spread of uncertainty and anxiety in the use of technology. The production of genetically modified food has created anxiety and fear of whether synthetic genomics will result in the development of deadly pathogens (2011).Science and Technology have also raised skepticism of constantly changing weather patterns and machines used in cancer patients.

The convergence of the debate is versatile because more innovation has enabled people to interact more easily across one nation to another. Though Terkel questions the effect of technology I human interaction and the substitution of humans by machine, the advent of technology in other disciplines such as agriculture, and medicine has helped save millions of lives in developing and developed countries.
