Extract of sample "Nursing Role Models"

Many individuals in the nursing field possess a combination of these characteristics. Such individuals have set examples for aspiring nurses to emulate. Personally, my role model is Margaret Sanger. In addition to carrying out her professional duties as a nurse, Margaret was a women’s liberation activist. Margaret advocated for female’s rights to use birth controls. This was not common in her era; in addition, she founded the American Birth Control League now known as Planned Parenthood (Nursing Online Education Database, n.d). I admire the way she took her role as a nurse beyond a professional level and stood for the improvement of women’s lifestyle.

I also admire her courage to stand up for something that was not a common subject of discussion. The link below is a lecture by Kerry Paige Nesseler, M.S., R.N. entitled "Nursing Leadership, Education and Practice to Advance Public Health in America and Abroad".
