How good job is better than good husband for woman? There are plenty of women in this world, who reject professional life for the sake of family life. For them, it is difficult to manage family life and professional life in an equal manner since many of the parameters of professional life may cause problems to family life. Such women believe that having a good husband and family life are better than having a good job. However, majority of the modern women do not have such belief. In their opinion, having a good job is better than having a good husband. I would like to support such women. In other words, I do believe that a better job is always better for the women than a better husband. Many of the women in this world are struggling because of poor financial abilities. In some fundamental societies, women forced to limit their activities within the boundaries of their home. The major reason for male domination in our society is the superior financial abilities of men over women. It should be noted that in many families men are working while the women are looking after the family matters. In such families, men do believe that they are working hard for the family and hence they need more recognition. They often neglect the hard labour undertaken by women in kitchen and in other family matters. Since the hard work in kitchen is often gone unnoticed, men do not have respect towards such hard labour. They never experienced the agony of managing a kitchen and looking after the needs of children. Men often label kitchen work as an unproductive works and their work as the productive work. In other words, men tend to believe that only the salaried profession is productive whereas unsalaried profession is non-productive. Because of such traditional beliefs, men often tend to neglect the hard work of women and try to dominate them. It should be noted that in India like countries, the government is considering a law to recognize and respect the hard works of women in kitchen and home. If passed by the parliament, husbands in India should provide a percentage of their financial earnings to their wives as a salary for the kitchen work. If the women have good jobs, such humiliating experiences may not occur to them. It is difficult for a woman to get an ideal or good husband. Even good husbands behave badly at times. In other words, it is difficult to have a 100% good husband. The concept of good husband is not at all absolute; but it is relative and subjective. Women often compare their husbands with other’s husbands while labelling their husband as good or bad. When a student scores 70 marks out of 100 we may consider his achievement as excellent. When he scores 60/100, we will label that achievement as good. It should not be forgotten that the student who scored 70 marks, committed 30 mistakes whereas the student who scored 40 marks committed 40 mistakes. The rating of husbands as good or bad is similar to the scoring of a student mentioned above. Even if a husband commits 40 mistakes, he may find a place in the good list. Women usually forget the 40 mistakes in front of the 60 correct answers. On the other hand, such considerations will not be given to the women, by their husbands. Even good husbands exaggerate the mistakes of their wives. They never show the patience to understand the arguments of their wives. In short, wives often forced to hear unwanted accusations whereas husbands escape from such things. In the case of unemployed women, such accusations will be more than that in the case of employed women. In short, employment provides an opportunity to the women to escape from the unnecessary blames or accusations of their husbands. Employment provides an opportunity to women to get good husbands. The chances of getting good husbands are more to the employed women than to the unemployed women. This is because of the fact that most of the modern men are concerned about the financial stabilities of their family. It is difficult for modern families to rely only the earnings of the husbands to find their livelihood. So, young male bachelors are looking for salaried women when they think of a marriage. Unemployed women often get low priority in the marriage market. Homelessness is more among unemployed women. There are plenty of incidents in which even the so called good husbands apply for divorce when they establish relationships with other women. In such cases, the divorcee women may become homeless. If they have employment, they can find a shelter. Otherwise, they may end up in homelessness. Therefore, it is better for women to have good job first and then think about marriage or good husbands. The readiness of salaried women for divorce is more than that of the unsalaried women. Men know this fact very well. So, while dealing with salaried wives, men take more care. In short, good job is a weapon to get a good husband and to lead a healthy life. To conclude, good job should always get the priority when a woman tries to toss-up between good jobs and good husbands. Good husband is a concept, which often stays only in the imagination. In a materialistic world, it is difficult for a husband to remain 100% good always. Even good husbands may behave bad at times. The dealings of husbands with salaried and unsalaried women are different. If a woman has job, she may get more recognition from their husbands whereas unemployed women get less recognition from their husbands. Even good husbands may not recognize the hard kitchen labour undertaken by their wives. In short, a good job may increase the social status, security, and recognition of the women. Therefore, women should always try to give priority to good job first and then to good husbands. A good job can bring physical, mental, social, and emotional satisfaction whereas a good husband can bring only mental satisfaction. Read More
