en proved that many firms are not ready to develop the concepts of e-business; main reasons seem to be the lack of funds necessary for the relevant organizational restructuring, the lack of experience of the staff involved and so on. On the other hand, there are firms that operate mainly through the Internet; their existence is closely related with the WWW and there would be no chance for them to survive in the market without participating actively in the specific – digital - environment. The importance of Internet for firms around the world has been emphasized by Sawhney et al. (2002). His research led to the conclusion that ‘the Internet is emerging as a powerful connecting force, allowing firms to serve customers, collaborate with partners and suppliers, and empower employees more effectively than ever before’ (Sawhney et al.

, 2002, 313). It is not made clear though the level at which Internet can enhance the organizational performance or which could be the possibly disadvantages of firms that are based heavily on the WWW. Current paper focuses on the role of e-business in the development of a specific firm that is heavily depended on the Internet for its success; Google is one of the most known search engines around the world; the firm has recently expanded its activities in a series of additional business sectors; the role of e-business models and principles in the achievement of the above target are thoroughly examined trying to identify the potential advantages and disadvantages of the dependency of the firm on the WWW.

The development of e-business through the last years has been continuous and significant; the number of firms on which the principles and models of e-business is gradually increased around the world. However, the advantages related with online business activity are not so clear.
