Extract of sample "School wait list letter"

Dear Bryan, Thank you very much for sending me the application status letter. I was delighted to see that my application is still under consideration for the Accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy program in Worcester.I have noted from my unofficial transfer credit worksheet sent with the wait list letter that my Social Sciences Elective was posted as needed. I would like to inform you that I am in fact taking the elective Western Civilization during this Spring Semester, which would correspond to the Social Sciences prerequisite that was shown missing.

I will send my spring grades to you as soon as they are made available to me. Moreover, I would like to bring to your notice that my Behavioral Science Elective was earned from CED evaluations, which is still open in the unofficial transcript. I look forward to take Organic Chemistry II and Microbiology early this summer, therefore, to complete all my prerequisites for the program.I have set your institution as my first choice, and will certainly attend the program if any space is made available.

I will be patiently waiting for any updates and your favorable decision.Thank you.Yours truly, …In order to do this letter correctly, I would suggest the following. I know that this isnt a rewrite of the letter, but I think that you might be missing the point a bit. Take into consideration that there are many people who have applied to this program. Perhaps several hundred. For you to get to the wait list, youve gotten to the first "cut" so to speak. What you want to do now is tell them more about you and how you are a fit for the program.

The article that you have attached makes good sense. You want to let them know that you are still interested and give them a reason to bring you into the program. What makes you different from everyone else? What can you do that no one else can do? What have you done to show interest in the study? The thing is, the letter that you have now is okay. Its written well. But it doesn’t tell anyone anything. It tells them a very little about you. How much do you want this opportunity? How much do you feel that you are a fit?

I would suggest going back to the article that you sent and answering the questions I suggested. If you want help writing it after that, great. Otherwise, its kind of a moot point if you dont want to add anything extra.I understand that you don’t want to be redundant. However, you DO want to show them why you are the best candidate. I think that can happen if you add what Ive requested.Let me know if this helps.Diana
