From my working experience, I know that a leader-manager can change any situation if he possesses unique entrepreneur skills and expertise. Strong leadership skills help me to apply unique solutions to difficult situations and use decision-making to solve current problems. Now I work for a small Romanian company that belongs to a British group, owned by an American private equity fund. Working with Melinda Steel SA, I had a chance to change the situation by opening a branch in Romania. It was a difficult decision for a company because it required investments and additional resources.

Thus, I analyzed the situation and convinced the CEO that this region was an ideal place for a new branch. This situation shows that decision-making, along with leadership and communication is one of the top three attributes a successful manager needs. It is a direct result of 'thinking' and you need to be able to 'think until it hurts. Decision-making is what turns thought into action: it implies change and requires a decision to be made against a background of uncertainty and risk In two years, the new branch employs 36 people, with a turnover of about 900,000 Euros/month. An effective decision is one that produces the goods, i.e. gives the desired end result.

Eastern Europe and CIS states are the regions that need excellent entrepreneur and leadership skills and knowledge to attract more businesses in the region and develop the CIS states. As my mission in Melinda Steel SA is to create a working system for the existing business in the market, Instituto de Empresa represents a unique opportunity to join practical skills and knowledge and develop my leadership. Working in Romania, I need to master practical and theoretical lessons from European countries, their lessons, and strategies applied to modern business. These leadership skills will help me to initiate or join the debate about economic empowerment at a higher level. As a professional entrepreneur, I will play many roles in the process of industrialization. Professional education will help me to innovate, open new markets, and bear risks; I will find new combinations of materials, processes, and products; create employment, commercialize new inventions, and invest in new opportunities.
