Policy, Politics And Public Management-A Look At The Impacts Of INTEREST GROUPS On Real E Cutting edge technology, strong workforce and good quality of living standards---these are just a few factors why New Jersey has long been known as one of the nest locations for businesses. From agriculture to information technology, New Jersey is viewed by many business professionals as a major driving force in the country's economy and as an ideal location for different kinds of businesses. Indeed, real estate is no exception.

For the past few years, the state's population continues to grow as more and more immigrants choose New Jersey as a favorable place to live. It takes pride in its good climate, good housing and highly competitive institutions, sports facilities and mass transport systems. These are the factors why the size of interest groups in the real estate increases. The impact of these interest groups, who favor moving not just their residential but also their business functions in New Jersey, is apparent in the state's real estate.

Since New Jersey is ideally situated in the heart of major cities and seaports in the country, many sectors in the country become part of the interest group, thus providing innovations in the state. According to Thompson (1999), the major impact of the interest groups in the real estate market of New Jersey owes its credit to the manifold factors including the favorable conditions in the state. In his book, New Jersey: A Big Pearl House, Thompson showed that as interest groups increase by 1%, the real estate industry grows by as high as 5%.

This analysis showed that the increase in the size of interest groups in New Jersey is four times directly proportional to the improvements in the real estate market of the state. Thompson also showed that the real estate industry accounts for more than 7.8% of the present improvements in the infrastructure which every citizen in the state enjoys. This only proves the huge impact of interest groups not just in the real estate industry but also in the local economy of the state.Smithson (2005) enumerated the effects of the interest groups in the real estate industry.

The most apparent outcome of the increase of interest groups in a particular location is the increased awareness of different sectors about the locality. These sectors may include business professionals and ordinary citizens searching for an ideal place to live. This awareness, as time progresses, urges different sectors to be part of the interest group of the locality. In addition to that, increased size in interest groups results to developmental projects in the locality. When the government realizes the huge size of interest groups in their location, they tend to implement and conduct projects aiming to develop the locality's weak aspects while developing the major attractions.

(Smithson, 2005).With the different desirable aspects of New Jersey, it is indeed rational to predict that the increase in the size of interest groups in the state is likely to continue. Judging by the present expansion of the effects of interest groups in the real estate industry of the economy, the potential improvements in the market of real estate due to the interest groups is beyond question. Hence, it is certainly safe to say that indeed, the size of interest groups in a locality matters greatly in its real estate industry.

With this principle, it is undeniable that interest groups should be one aspect the government must concentrate with, for it has beneficial factors to the real estate industry, which is one of the major forces of the local economy.
