 The art of one-on-one interview The art of one-on-one interview/conversation is helpful to extract information for qualitative research purpose. For this work, the interviewer interviewed his friend and gathered valuable information for the qualitative research purpose. The findings are based on one-on-one interview/conversation to pass on the information to the audience. Thesis statement: the one-on-one interview/conversation reveals some interesting and important facts about an individual (my friend) in particular and the public (youngsters) in general.

The following are the findings based on the one-on-one interview/conversation (see appendix 1). Roy J. Blitzer points out that the traditional mode of interview, i.e. one-on-one interview is most popular (Blitzer 148). First of all, the interviewees answer makes clear that a child does like to have pets, especially dogs. Most of the people remember their first job, but some of them do not like to reveal their first payment. Similar to other youngsters, my friend likes to read books, gardening, swimming, and working out.

The interviewee is aware of American history and admires the dedication shown by the famous people. Similar to other youngsters, the interview likes science fiction films like Avatar. The interviewee is with strong will power because he does not like to do things which he does not like. The interviewee is proud of his sense of humor because it helps him to be successful in his life. The interviewee was able to achieve his short term goal and is working hard to achieve his long term goal. Similar to other MJ (Michel Jackson) fans, the interviewee made clear that he would like to meet him (if he was able to do so).

The interviewee considers that the most embarrassing moment in his life was the day in which he was away from his friends. This proves that he is so social and attached to his friends in general. Like other children, the interviewee had a nick name and like other youngsters he is not ready to reveal the same. In his childhood, the interviewee used to act (role play) like elders and this proves his growth and development as a child. The interviewee made clear that he proved his courage in front of his friends by visiting a cemetery in the midnight and this proves his courage.

The interviewee’s attempt to learn driving at the age of 14 proves that he is similar to other boys in his nature. The interviewee revealed his attachment to animals/ pets by pointing out that he would like to be a dog because it is the best pet that a human being can ever have. At the same time, the interviewee’s favorite things is shopping and searching for new books. This proves the mindset of the youngsters. The interviewee seems to be positive towards his life because he feels proud of his status as a youngster with immense energy and to dream about one’s success in future life.

The interviewee’s favorite entertainer is Mr. Bean and this proves that he does not consider human life as a burden but with full of humor. The interviewee wishes to re-experience his childhood in his life because it is the most interesting age in human life without any particular responsibility but with full of fun. When the interviewee was asked about keeping money which was not his, he pointed out that he will go to the nearest police station and will report the same, which proves his truthfulness.

The answer to the last and final question reveals the interviewee’s power and weakness, willpower and emotionality respectively. Summing, the interview session unearthed some specific characteristics of my friend, which was unknown to me. The one-on-one interview/conversation helped the interviewer a lot to understand human character, especially the personality of the person who was interviewed. For instance, the interviewee’s attitude towards his life is positive and he does not consider life as burden but an opportunity to be successful in future.

As the interviewee represents the younger generation, the findings can be applied to evaluate the general characteristics and mind set of the youngsters in general. References Blitzer, Roy J. What kind of vehicle? A. When I was 14, I learned driving and it was a motor bike.15. If you were an animal, what would you be and why? A.
