Newscast Use a Marketing Perspective to Attract Audiences The newscast uses a marketing perspective in order to entice audiences. This is done by placing advertisements right before the online newscast and the viewer is asked to click on it to get to the original newscast. This means that a controlled mechanism is in place when one sees the effect of the online newscast as emphasis directly goes upon either disabling the advertisement or seeing it through. This marketing perspective is present in order to engage the audience to buy the products or avail the services which are on offer. An effort is required on the part of the viewer to either disengage the advertisement or watch it completely and absorb the intended message. This is the reason why online newscasts can have a better chance of placing the advertisements as and where they are required as compared to a television newscast. The marketing perspective within this online newscast served its purpose because I was able to view the advertisement for a period of 30 seconds before I could reach the exact content of the newscast. It made sense to me that the online newscast placed its advertisement right before the actual content of the newscast. • Are the sources used in the news stories appropriate or credible? Why or why not? The sources used in the news stories were deemed as both appropriate and credible. The sources deployed have actually brought quite a good amount of credibility and authenticity to the whole process. This is because the newscasts were seen as a form of research which exhibited true value for the advertisers and marketers. They were able to project their stories in a manner which was deemed as most fitting under the changing marketing dynamics. They believed that these newscasts could bring forward credible sources that shall make the audience perceive them as truthful at all times. It is indeed a much positive aspect related with the sources because these are viewed as credible and trustworthy. When one concerns the basis towards the television and the online form of newscasts, the onus always falls upon their source genuineness because it aims to resolve the ambiguities that exist within the relevant fore. Hence it is important to validate the sources present within the online newscasts because these keep on changing from time to time. There is good enough evidence that these newscasts might have been tampered so as to attain some hidden agendas, which might be accomplished through these newscasts. • Do any of the news stories in the broadcast appear to be biased? If so, how did you recognize the bias? If not, how did the story appear to avoid bias? The element of biasness was evident within the broadcast since one aspect was being portrayed while the other was found missing. This meant that one perspective was taking the lead over the other one. Also there was immense competition that was present within the newscast as far as the competitor products were concerned. This was seen in the form of knowing where anomalies in the existing product actually existed. I was able to recognize the bias since the specified traits were being spoken of time and again (Jackson, 2001). It further strengthened my belief that something somewhere was being projected in a biased manner. Also the bias was easily recognized by the tone of the background voice within the newscast. It made me believe that the broadcaster was trying to sell something which had little to do with the story at hand. The story had bias written all over it which is something that is seen as a negative as far as its content was concerned. Such elements of bias could be removed in an amicable manner to discern genuineness and to bring credibility within the related fore of online newscasts. • Do any of the news stories include presentations of racial or gender stereotypes? If so, in what way? The news stories do not show any presentations of racial or gender stereotypes. However, what was distressing to note was the fact that certain aspects of the newscast were quite repetitive in nature which essentially bored the viewer. The content came again and again, and was thought of as being part of the storyline, which was not to be. I thought that the newscast was giving out a more subliminal message than being racially or gender wise stereotypical of some aspect. Even though this might not look strange in the beginning, it did leave an impact on me which made me think about the newscast in entirety. If there were any traces of racial or gender stereotypes within the newscast, it would not have made it into the content. This is my personal assumption because I am of the opinion that such nuances will never be entertained within such a newscast that is being viewed by people from different walks of life, all over the globe. • Do any of the news stories appear to be fabricated? Why or why not? I believe there has been a good amount of fabrication within the news stories that were put together in the online newscasts. This was because the content demanded as such. The manner in which the content was being projected left quite a few stones unturned. It asked for the viewer to trace himself where the content was leading itself to. The news stories need to be authentic which can easily resonate with the people viewing them in different regions of the world. It is a well known fact that fabricated stories are never appreciated by the people at large. They would opt for credible news stories because these present both the sides of the story and allow for aspects that have been left covered on the part of the audience for a long period of time. The need is to know where anomalies are and how fabrication can work as a tool (Gattiker, 2001). This is seldom the case because fabrications in essence bring a bad name for the people who develop the content and air the newscasts in entirety. • Do any of the stories appear to be incomplete or require more context for viewers to fully understand the meaning? I am of the view that these news stories within the newscasts need more content within them. The meat seems missing which is an essential ingredient of the newscasts that are on the rounds these days. It gives a special feel to what has been projected on the different media forms and avenues. It also allows the people to understand what is being conveyed and how it is being presented. With that onus must fall upon the people who produce these newscasts to begin with. They are the ones who would most definitely know how news stories should be planned, where their drafting should be done, what sets of rules are important to follow, and how closely associated these news stories are with the norms and routines of a particular society. The need is to find out how anomalies can be removed so much so that they become a thing of the past, and never to be experienced in the future again. Incompleteness is a tangent that should be kept away so that the viewers do not feel it at any stage. This is the basis of achieving supremacy and successful results as far as newscasts are concerned in this day and age. • If the newscast is biased in some way, what are your suggestions for making it more fair and balanced? When biasness is evident, it is important to remove it in order to show that fairness and balance are necessary for producing a news story which will later on be put up on a newscast. The suggestions that could be presented for the newscasts under such scenarios stem from the fact that they must be considerate enough of all the people within a society and make a conscious effort to include opinions of the people who matter the most as well as the ones who shall be the stakeholders for the entire process. The newscasts need to be propagated in such a manner that there is immense harmony for the people under different circumstances and situations. This harmony is in terms of achieving the results that the newscasts are trying their best to have. It would serve the purpose which is intended right from the very beginning. All efforts should be made to make sure that the biasness element is removed from the news stories or the content that is produced for these newscasts. This will be appreciated by the people coming from different backgrounds and settings. • Do you think the World Wide Web and the Internet now affect political points of view to a greater extent than other media do? Provide a rationale for your position. The World Wide Web and the Internet offer a great amount of political perspectives than it was the case in the yesteryears. This has happened because the media invasion has been apparent for a long period of time. Other media forms have not been able to make their mark in such a manner especially because the Internet offers the control mechanism directly on to the users (or viewers). They can pick and choose what they feel like watching, which is not the case with television channels and the print medium (Fagin, 2002). The changing times have seen things getting advanced and this is indeed something that can be remarked as a positive as far as political aspirations and values are concerned. Much needs to be comprehended from the realms of the World Wide Web and the Internet as time passes by. References Fagin, B. (2002).
