Every design requires extensive innovation for it to be prosperous; as a result of this need, McDonough and Braungart developed a five-step strategy plan. It is an effective concept that ensures services and products are in the appropriate designs. Designers work in the same way as dreamers who actualize their dream into beautiful structures. In addition, these designs should not pollute or damage the environment but co-exist in a remarkable manner. One significant step is the removal of harmful chemical substances from a product.

The second step is necessary as it enables the manufacturer to follow on the informed personal preferences. They identify a number of raw materials that are readily available and whose impacts are minimal to the environment. It is a comprehensive process as it entails harvesting of naturally occurring materials other than producing and releasing toxic substances. Customers and manufacturers should make wise decisions while choosing the products to use in the manufacturing process. The Whole Foods Compostable Food Packaging (US) follows this procedure to ensure that they offer quality services to their customers.

They pack their food in biodegradable containers, which reduce the amount of waste2. This step requires the taste and preference of the individual and quality of products intended for the market.
