The DFD serves two purposes: to illustrate the functions that change the data and to gives and indication of the way data are being transformed along the system. Developing a data flow diagram for Personal Trainer, Inc will provide additional information that is used during the analysis of the information.

There are several advantages that will be realized with the adoption of this DFD. Most importantly, the DFD will depict the flow and boundary of the information. Apart from that; adoption of DFD will ensure a stable system, flexibility and maintenance, better communication with the users, better understanding of the business analysts and removal of redundancies and easier development of physical model. As an IT specialists and consultant, I recommended without reasonable doubt the adoption of DFD because I believe it will add value to Personal Trainer, Inc in its quest to increase its business base.
