By the 1970s, Harlequin was the globe’s largest publisher of women’s series romance fiction. In this regard, most of the Harlequins customers are readers who like series romance novels (Mark 2). However, evidence has found out that numerous customers are reading single-title romance and women’s fiction books as series romances. Therefore, the majority of clientele prefer fictional stories on women’s romance. 2. Nearly all the series romance products from Harlequin are fundamentally different from that of traditional single-title publishers in relation to artwork size, length, content, print, and basic formats that have been designed to ensure a consistent product that a customer can easily associate with.

Each book is both a new product and an addition to the clearly defined product line. Besides, most of the books manufactured by Harlequins are liked by customers since they come in various languages thus reaching a wider audience across the globe. Another way in which the publisher creates value for its customers is through the use of sophisticated shipping and returns handling procedures. This ensures that the customers acquire the product in good conditions in a very short time. Delays are minimal in the shipping process as a result of efficiency.

Since addressing clients’ most crucial needs offers the highest contribution, Harlequin makes emphasis on servicing, rack placement, and order regulation. This makes it convenient for customers to purchase books. Although numerous writers have contributed to the series romance, the Harlequin editors usually ensure a consistent finished product that satisfies the tastes and preferences of the loyal series of romance readers. The product’s value is also enhanced by delivering the product to the customer’s home monthly through the Harlequins direct mail service, thus making the customers like the product. 3. Harlequin needs to re-enter the single-title business since its production makes use of a consistent format that focuses on efficiency.
